“Amazing!” That was just one of the many accolades being shouted out by fans exiting the Kia Forum on Sunday night after Brandy and Monica wrapped a two-night stopover in Inglewood, California, on their co-headlining The Boy Is Mine Tour.
Since launching the highly anticipated 32-date tour in Cincinnati (Oct. 16), Brandy and Monica have been wowing their legion of fans from coast to coast. And L.A. was no exception. The R&B legends gave as good as they got from the elated audience, thanks to their estimable catalogs of hits and fan fave tracks during the sold-out show’s six-act rollout. From Monica’s “Don’t Take It Personal (Just One of Dem Days)” and Brandy’s “I Wanna Be Down” in Act I to their signature duet “The Boy Is Mine” that closes out Act VI — plus more musical touchstones in between, including a tribute to Whitney Houston — the two women indelibly underscored their enduring cultural impact and creative influence.

An additional testament to that has been the revolving cast of star fans and surprise guests appearing at the various tour stops. Among the stars in the audience last night: Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Rihanna, Queen Latifah and actress Jenifer Lewis; watch the recap video here. Proving the ladies still love him, LL Cool J had women screaming their lungs out when he hit the stage to perform two songs, including “Luv U Better.” Also turning in surprise performances were O.T. Genasis, Blxst and Mario. The first night of the L.A. whistlestop boasted appearances by Kehlani, Ty Dolla $ign, 50 Cent and Miguel.
Overall, the final night of The Boy Is Mine Tour in L.A. was chock-full of boisterous sing-alongs, rigorous seat-dancing and lively shout-outs. Warming up the L.A. crowd both nights were powerful performances by Jamal Roberts, Muni Long and Kelly Rowland. In addition to her solo hits such as “Dilemma,” “Motivation” and “Like This,” Rowland peppered her segment with several Destiny’s Child numbers like “Bad Habit,” “Independent Women, Part 1” and “Girl” — no doubt leaving fans hoping for a DC reunion tour.
