The Rolling Stones and lava lamp pioneers Mathmos have collaborated on a red vinyl Astro lava lamp.

The special edition Astro will launch on November 13, with only 1,000 being made. The lamps will be available exclusively from Mathmos’ website, with the exception of 35 which will be available from the official Rolling Stones store RS No. 9 Carnaby Street and 15 from the official Rolling Stones webstore on launch day.

The collaboration celebrates a shared heritage dating back to 1963: the year the Stones released their debut singles and Mathmos was founded. Artwork from the Stones’ November 1963 single “I Wanna Be Your Man” features on the product packaging for this collaboration.

The limited-edition lamp showcases Mathmos’ signature Astro design with a custom anodised red vinyl base and cap, complete with etched grooves reminiscent of records and a striking red/orange lava colourway. The Rolling Stones’ ‘Tongue’ logo, is screen-printed on the glass bottle. Meanwhile, a unique limited-edition number is laser-etched onto a vinyl-inspired cap sticker.

Cressida Granger, Managing Director, Mathmos says, “This collaboration represents the perfect fusion of two British icons that emerged in the same revolutionary era. Both Mathmos and The Rolling Stones have spent over 60 years pushing creative boundaries and bringing joy to people’s lives. Creating this limited-edition piece celebrates our shared DNA of innovation, heritage, and the unmistakable British spirit of rebellion.”
