The release protests against the UK government’s planned changes to copyright law, which would make it easier to train AI models on copyrighted work without a licence.
Originally released digitally in February, the album consisted of 12 tracks, featuring recordings of empty studios and performance spaces, representing the impact on artists’ and music professionals’ livelihoods that is expected if the government does not change course. Kate Bush and Damon Albarn were among the 1,000 artists credited as co-writers.
The album is released on vinyl on December 8, with McCartney’s composition as a bonus track: a recording of an empty studio. The vinyl is being released by The state51 Conspiracy.
The vinyl is available for pre-order at here for £28. All profits from sales will be donated to the musicians’ charity Help Musicians.
