It was only a couple of months ago that we were talking to Billy Childish about the latest album by his reformed garage rock troupe, Thee Headcoats. But things move fast down Chatham way, and on March 27, Damaged Goods will release House On Fire: a riotously enjoyable new record by Wild Billy Childish & CTMF.
Since being bitten by the punk bug in the 1970s, Childish has recorded more than 130 LPs while leading a succession of influential groups including (but certainly not limited to) The Pop Rivets, The Milkshakes, Thee Mighty Caesars, Thee Headcoats, The Buff Medways, The Spartan Dreggs, The William Loveday Intention and The Musicians Of The British Empire.
He’s also published five novels, 40-plus collections of poetry, and – as a celebrated painter – is the co-founder of the Stuckist art movement.
We are grateful, therefore, that he’s made room in his impressively unceasing schedule for a gentle grilling from you, the Uncut readers. So what do you want to ask a swashbuckling DIY legend? Send your questions to audiencewith@uncut.co.uk by Wednesday (February 4) and Billy will answer the best ones in a future issue of Uncut.
