Whenever Drake supports a team with his rooting interest or backs them with his six-figure bets and that franchise ends up losing, the 6 God hears all the noise from sports fans about the “Drake Curse.”

Drake was finally asked about the mythical curse in a mock interview he posted to his Instagram on Monday (May 19) in promotion of his partnership with Stake.

“I feel like I don’t play sports, whether I picked the wrong team or not, if I could get out there and win for all your favorite teams, I would,” he said.

Ultimately, Drake feels vindicated that a “curse” doesn’t exist because the Toronto Raptors captured their first NBA championship in 2019.

“The Drake curse is funny to me,” he revealed. “First of all, the Toronto Raptors are NBA champions. If there was a Drake curse, Kawhi [Leonard] would’ve never hit that shot, we would’ve never beat the Warriors. There is no Drake curse, but it’s funny, though.”

However, Drake did concede that he isn’t a sports gambling savant and has taken his fair share of monetary losses with bad bets over the years.

“I am a flawed sports better,” Drizzy admitted. “I will not deny that. That’s not my gift. I’ll let everybody roll with it. I’m sure if you’re a Drake curse believer, there will be plenty more content in the future to confirm your theories because my slips do not cash out. But one day I’m gonna have a parlay that’s insane.”

Drake added to the “Drake Curse” theories on Sunday night when his hometown Toronto Maple Leafs were eliminated from the Stanley Cup Playoffs after a 6-1 thrashing at the hands of the Florida Panthers in Game 7.

Drizzy actually ended up betting $1.25 million on the Maple Leafs to take home the game 7 victory and advance to the Eastern Conference Finals.

However, Drake jokingly flipped the script and blamed the “Bieber Curse” in his IG Story, as Justin Bieber, who’s a massive Leafs fan, was in attendance front and center at Scotiabank Arena with his wife, Hailey, to watch the excruciating loss in person.

“I don’t remember a time in my life when I haven’t been obsessed with the leafsssss,” Bieber wrote following the loss on his Instagram. “This year we made it farther than we have in so long and im happy about that. I can be patient cuz I know this is the team to do it.”

Drake wants fellow Canadian rapper Tory Lanez to “come home soon” after he was stabbed multiple times in prison and hospitalized earlier this week.

On his Instagram Story Friday (May 16), Drake wrote “@torylanez come home soon” while sharing a Change.org petition urging California Governor Gavin Newsom to pardon the fellow Toronto MC, who’s currently serving a 10-year prison sentence after being convicted on three felony counts tied to his shooting of Megan Thee Stallion during a heated dispute after a Hollywood Hills pool party in July 2020.

TMZ reported Monday that Lanez (real name Daystar Peterson) had been stabbed in the prison yard of California Correctional Institution and rushed to a nearby hospital in Bakersfield, California, to treat his injuries. A statement shared on Lanez’s Instagram Story the following day revealed that he had been “stabbed 14 times, including seven wounds to his back, four to his torso, two to the back of his head and one to the left side of his face. Both of his lungs collapsed, and he was placed on a breathing apparatus. He is now breathing on his own,” the statement reads. “Despite being in pain, he is talking normally, in good spirits and deeply thankful to God that he is pulling through. He also wants to thank everyone for the continued prayers and support.”

This isn’t the first time Drake has shown support to Tory Lanez. In December, during his Drizzmas Giveaway stream with Adin Ross, Drake raised a shot glass to Lanez and declared, “3 up T, man. 3 up T. I know they don’t want to hear me say that. 3 up T.” He used a similar plea 10 months earlier when he simply wrote “3 u” on his IG Story.

The two previously feuded but squashed their beef in 2017 via an IG post. Drake brought Lanez out at his OVO Fest the same year to perform “Controlla” from the former’s 2016 album Views together.

Styles P doesn’t think he and Jim Jones are in the same category.

When co-host and Harlem native KP suggested that Jim Jones had better songs than Styles P when it came to a Verzuz, the Yonkers rappers respectfully disagreed and laid out the differences between the two artists.

“You’re entitled to that feeling,” Styles replied. “This is what hip-hop is about: You connecting with music that connects with you. If that’s how you feel, I ain’t mad at you for feeling that way. I f—in’ totally think… I know you’re f—in’ wrong.”

He continued: “Me and Jim ain’t in the same league. Me and Jim don’t do the same things. I am a bar master. I am a lyrical technician. I been on joints with some of the best MCs in the world: Big, Hov, Black Thought, Talib… I bar sh– down. If there’s a lyricist or MC, I’m one of their f—in’ favorites.

He then continued by saying he’s got love for Jim and respect for how he came up in the game, but at the same time feels a little disrespected by the comparison.

“I’m not here to make catchy hooks. … I don’t knock that,” he explained. “I’m trying to say some sh– that’s gonna make your soul move. That’s what I’m into. So when I say a verse, if it resonates with you, it’s gonna be some sh– that you may catch 10 years later down the line, so me and Jim don’t do the same things. I have the utmost respect for Jim, for how he built his career. I love Jim, that’s like my bro, but I think to compare us is an unfair comparison.”

If you recall, both rappers’ respective groups battled in one of the best Verzuz face-offs to date when The LOX dismantled The Diplomats at The Theater at Madison Square Garden back in 2021.

Latto really needs “Somebody,” and she announced on Monday (May 12) that she’s dropping her new single with that name on Friday.

“Greetings from Jamaica,” she wrote on Instagram under the island-inspired artwork. She first teased the single on X back in March with a one-minute clip of her playing it in the car. “I’m on a beach, my hair blowing in the wind. I’m sippin’ a piña colada in a G-string bikini,” she says while licking her lips. She posted a slowed-down version of that snippet in her latest IG announcement.

“Somebody” will mark Latto’s first solo single release of 2025, and it will arrive four months after she dropped the “Blick Sum” remix featuring fellow ATL rapper Playboi Carti. “Blick Sum” was originally featured on her third studio album Sugar Honey Iced Tea, which she released last August via Streamcut and RCA Records. The 17-track project included the hit single “Big Mama,” which was nominated for a best melodic rap performance at the 2025 Grammys, and reached No. 15 on the Billboard 200 and earned Latto her first No. 1 on Top Rap Albums.

Next month, Latto will embark on the mini Big Mama Takes Europe tour, featuring festival stops at DLT Malta in St. Paul’s Bay, Malta, Tinderbox in Odense, Denmark, Yardland Festival in Paris, France and Les Ardentes in Liège, Belgium, as well as shows in London, Berlin and Amsterdam.

After weeks of speculation, J.I.D. has announced his new album, God Does Like Ugly, and confirmed it’s dropping later this year.

On Thursday (May 8), J.I.D. shared God Does Like Ugly will be released on Aug. 8. The Dreamville rapper had previously dropped off his new single “WRK” on April 18. The new track was J.I.D.’s first solo single since 2023, when he dropped off the Blackboyz present Half Doin Dope/Van Gogh 2-pack with Lil Yachty and BabyTron. God Does Like Ugly will be J.I.D.’s first release since his 2022 album, The Forever Story, which the rapper admitted he was disappointed by the critics’ reception.

“Starting this new journey coming off THE FOREVER STORY has been a very strange, productive, yet tedious process,” he wrote on X shortly before the release of “WRK.” “I remember not feeling like I got what I think I deserved after that album came out and it sent me into a dark place (for maybe 20 mins cuz I ain’t no b—h). Fast-forward to Pluss playing this beat for me in the studio and all I could hear was my OG coach saying, ‘Let’s go to WORK.’ I live my life by the saying ‘You can only control what you can control.’ So this is the first step into a new world that I control…and it’s f—kin UGLY.”
