Music from Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters and Sinners took top honors at last night’s (March 15) 98th Academy Awards in Los Angeles, with the former’s “Golden” by HUNTR/X winning Best Original Song and the latter’s Ludwig Göransson earning Best Original Score.
Sinners also received Best Actor honors for Michael B. Jordan, Best Original Screenplay for writer/director Ryan Coogler and Best Cinematography. Shaboozey, Brittany Howard, Buddy Guy, Miles Caton, Raphael Saadiq, D-Nice and ballet star Misty Copeland joined forces during the Conan O’Brien-hosted ABC telecast for a performance of the film’s “I Lied to You.”

HUNTR/X’s EJAE, Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami also performed “Golden,” which became the first K-pop song to win an Oscar. Beyond its Song win, KPop Demon Hunters was named Best Animated Feature.
The night’s big winner was Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another, which hauled in Best Picture, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor (for an absent Sean Penn) and Best Adapted Screenplay. Jessie Buckley was named Best Actress for Hamnet and Amy Madigan won Best Supporting Actress for Weapons.
In a touching ode to late costar Robert Redford, 83-year-old Barbra Streisand sang a portion of “The Way We Were” in her first Oscars performance since a 2013 salute to another former collaborator, composer Marvin Hamlisch.
