Introducing Uncut Greats – the latest addition to the Uncut family of music titles.
In this new magazine, we’re taking what you might call a greatest hits approach – presenting all the quality and expertise you’d expect from Uncut, but cutting straight to the chase. Like it says on the cover: the life story, the greatest music, the Uncut version. And the Greats? They’re our personal pantheon of classic artists, who just happen to have made some of history’s finest music.
This month, it’s a pleasure to be launching the title with David Bowie. Inside we’ll be providing a countdown of Bowie’s top 20 greatest albums, his greatest singles, and telling his extraordinary life story. We’ll also be zooming in to provide extra detail on particular periods of interest from Uncut’s own investigations. This month, we hear from friends and eyewitnesses how young mod David Jones became world-beating pop star David Bowie. Later in the magazine, we’ll hear how Bowie arrived at his greatest creation, Ziggy Stardust.
Outlandish hair. Extraordinary clothes. Phenomenal music. Ziggy had something no-one else was able to offer.
“It was the absolute peak of his career,” one of his friends tells us.
