Following their debut combined set at Coachella last weekend billed as Nine Inch Noize, Nine Inch Nails and Boys Noize have detailed their collaborative album Nine Inch Nails – Nine Inch Noize, which is out Friday (April 17). The project was teased last week on Coachella promotional billboards erected along California’s I-10 highway.

The artists first worked together in 2024 on a Boys Noize remix of NIN members Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross’ score for the film Challengers. From there, Boys Noize was drafted as the opening act on NIN’s acclaimed Peel It Back tour, which hit North American arenas both last fall and earlier this year. Those shows were highlighted by segments on a smaller b-stage where the artists transformed NIN songs into new electronic arrangements. Most recently, Boys Noize was featured on a reimagined version of NIN’s Tron: Ares score released in late February.

More from Spin:

The creative fulfillment of working on the Challengers and TRON scores with Boys Noize led me to think that including him in the Peel It Back tour could be an interesting way to express NIN in more purely electronic terms live — a concept I’ve wanted to explore for some time,” Reznor says. “The result was so much fun for us we felt it was worth expanding and formalizing in some way.

“On a whim I mentioned it would be cool to play a whole set as Nine Inch Noize in the Sahara tent at Coachella.  Careful what you wish for — the next thing I knew we were designing a whole new show to present in the way it deserved. There’s no surprise tour announcement — this Saturday is it.  I’m taking Sunday off and excited to be working on new Nine Inch Nails music Monday. I’ll see you when I come up for air.”

The 12-track album includes Nine Inch Nails songs plus “As Alive As You Need Me To Be” from TRON: ARES and Parasite by Reznor’s other side band How To Destroy Angels. That group’s vocalist Mariqueen Maandig, who is also married to Reznor, joined him and Boys Noize at Coachella last weekend. “We recorded this album all over the place – some of it’s live, some in studios, hotels, planes, etc. We had a lot of fun revisiting these songs and hope you enjoy.  Listen LOUD,” Reznor says.
