Former Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant covers Low’s “Everybody’s Song” as the lead single from his next album, Saving Grace, which will be released Sept. 26 through Nonesuch. The project features a new band comprised of vocalist Suzi Dian, drummer Oli Jefferson, guitarist Tony Kelsey, banjo/string player Matt Worley and cellist Barney Morse-Brown, who spent six years gradually recording it.
“We laugh a lot, really. I think that suits me. I like laughing,” Plant says. “You know, I can’t find any reason to be too serious about anything. I’m not jaded. The sweetness of the whole thing … These are sweet people and they are playing out all the stuff that they could never get out before. They have become unique stylists and together they seem to have landed in a most interesting place.”

Describing Saving Grace “a song book of the lost and found,” Plant here tackles songs originally recorded by Memphis Minnie, Bob Mosley (Moby Grape), Blind Willie Johnson, the Low Anthem, Martha Scanlan and Sarah Siskind. He previously covered Low’s “Silver Rider” on his 2010 album Band of Joy.
Saving Grace follows Plant’s Grammy-nominated 2021 reunion with Alison Krauss, Raise the Roof, and is his first proper solo release since 2017’s Carry Fire.
He and his cohorts will support Saving Grace with their first North American tour, beginning Oct. 30 in Wheeling, W. Va. Beforehand, they’ll play a handful of European gigs through July 30 in Barcelona. Plant continues to feature select Led Zeppelin songs in his set lists, including “Gallows Pole,” “The Rain Song,” “Ramble On” and “Four Sticks.”
