The Cure have paid tribute to multi-instrumentalist Perry Bamonte, who has died aged 65.

Writing on the band’s website on December 26, the band said Bamonte died “after a short illness at home over Christmas” and praised him as a “warm hearted and vital part of The Cure story.”

Originally a member of The Cure’s road crew from 1984, Bamonte was joined the band after the departure of keyboardist Roger O’Donnell in 1990.

He also played guitar on some of the band’s most successful albums, including Wish and Bloodflowers, and tours.

Bamonte also played bass in Love Amongst Ruin from 2012.

He re-joined The Cure in 2022. His final appearance with the band was The Show Of A Lost World concert at The Troxy in London on November 1, 2024.
