{"id":10002,"date":"2026-04-06T14:44:57","date_gmt":"2026-04-06T14:44:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/musictechohio.online\/site\/the-strokes-new-album\/"},"modified":"2026-04-06T14:44:57","modified_gmt":"2026-04-06T14:44:57","slug":"the-strokes-new-album","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/musictechohio.online\/site\/the-strokes-new-album\/","title":{"rendered":"The Strokes Tussle With \u2018Reality\u2019 On New LP"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.spinmagazine.com\/files\/2025\/05\/GettyImages-1645847733-min-scaled.jpg\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1707\" alt=\"\"><figcaption>The Strokes in 2023 (photo: Kristy Sparow \/ Getty Images).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Strokes will return with their first album in six years this summer in the form of <em>Reality Awaits<\/em>, which the band <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DWyrrehN5IK\/\" target=\"_blank\">announced on social media<\/a> today (April 6).<\/p>\n<p>Soundtracked by 13 seconds of music, the clip features a vintage sports car and the magazine ad-style kicker \u201cIn the Flesh, It\u2019s Even Sexier.\u201d No other information has been revealed about the follow-up to 2020\u2019s <em>The New Abnormal<\/em>, which debuted at No. 4 on the <em>Billboard<\/em> 200. The group will play such festivals as Coachella, Outside Lands, Bonnaroo, Shaky Knees, Sea.Hear.Now and Tokyo\u2019s Summer Sonic through late September.<\/p>\n<p>In another twist, guitarist Nick Valensi was an unexplained no-show from a Saturday gig at San Francisco\u2019s Warfield and will not play tonight at a gig at the city\u2019s Bill Graham Civic Auditorium. His replacement is ex-Longwave leader Steve Schlitz, whose band was on the rise in New York around the time of the Strokes\u2019 <em>Is This It<\/em>-era explosion and most recently filled in for Valensi during a September 2025 Las Vegas show.<\/p>\n<p>For whatever it\u2019s worth, Casablancas implied he and Valensi no longer speak to each other in a November 2025 interview for the <a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/episode\/0v9xij11uQMOXGw062XrR5?si=2a7a32080dfe48ce\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Lonely Island and Seth Meyers<strong> <\/strong><\/em>podcast<\/a>.
