\n\tA representative for the pop star confirmed to Billboard<\/em> on Sunday (April 12) that Spears checked herself in, but did not specify the reason.<\/p>\n

\n\tNo further details were provided by Spears\u2019 rep at press time.<\/p>\n

\n\t TMZ report<\/a>s<\/a> the singer entered rehab for substance abuse treatment.<\/p>\n

\n\tSpears\u2019 decision to check herself into a treatment facility comes just over a month after a DUI arrest.<\/p>\n

\n\tSpears\u00a0was arrested<\/a>\u00a0for suspicion of a DUI on March 4 in Ventura County, Calif. She was booked by the Ventura County Sheriff\u2019s Office and\u00a0released from custody\u00a0the following morning, March 5.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThis was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable,\u201d Spears\u2019 rep said in a statement to Billboard<\/em><\/a> following the arrest. \u201cBritney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law, and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney\u2019s life. Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHer rep added, \u201cHer boys are going to be spending time with her. Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue needed plan to set her up for success for well-being.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThough Spears hasn\u2019t commented on the incident herself, on March 27 the star returned to Instagram<\/a> with a dance clip \u2014 alongside her 19-year-old son, Jayden Federline \u2014 to show appreciation to her fans, writing: \u201cThank you guys for all your support\u2026 spending time with family and friends is such a blessing. Stay kind !!!\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn a more recent post on Instagram<\/a>, amid more dance videos, Spears shared a stil snapshot of herself with the caption, \u201cWhen peeps try to make you larger than life\u2026 tell them to BOW if I ever showed them the fragility of my real heart.\u201d<\/p>\n
