The prolific Australian group <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DXgp7LZkZrO\/?img_index=1\" target=\"_blank\">revealed on social media<\/a> today (April 24) that its next album, made entirely on its bespoke modular synthesizer setup dubbed Nathan, is \u201cdone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>With King Gizzard\u2019s only shows of 2026 looming in August at its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spinmagazine.com\/2025\/12\/king-gizzard-2026-touring-plans\/\">Field of Vision festival<\/a> in Colorado and at New York\u2019s Forest Hills Stadium, could the new album be ready by then? We spent a week in the studio and we just jammed for hours endlessly. Some stuff was good. Most of it wasn\u2019t. We\u2019ve been chipping away at approaching the whole electronic thing in a few different ways,\u201d he said. \u201cWe\u2019re constantly trying to find a place, and to find ourselves, in this electronic world of ours, but it\u2019s getting there. I was playing the drums along to, like, the table kind of thing, but then I had some electronic kit stuff I was doing as well. It\u2019s just trying to find a place sonically. Obviously, [group member] Joey [Walker]\u2019s techno history and background plays a part in it. It\u2019s a big step beyond\u00a0<em>The Silver Cord<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSix of us, all making improvised electronic music at once, is something we\u2019d never really seen done before,\u201d frontman Stu Mackenzie <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spinmagazine.com\/2025\/03\/king-gizzard-and-the-lizard-wizard-feature\/\">told SPIN<\/a> in the summer of 2024 \u201cOur work on this has been quite obsessive.\u201d\u00a0Added Walker, \u201cIt\u2019s going to constantly evolve. I love the idea that it just could fall apart at any moment.
