(photo: Theo Wargo \/ Getty Images).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Metallica is continuing its deep-dive catalog campaign with a massive reissue of 1997\u2019s <em>ReLoad<\/em>, arriving June 26 via its own Blackened Recordings. Remastered by Reuben Cohen with longtime collaborator Greg Fidelman overseeing, <em>ReLoad (Remastered)<\/em> will be available across <a href=\"https:\/\/metallica.lnk.to\/reloadreissue\" target=\"_blank\">multiple formats<\/a>, including vinyl, CD, cassette, digital and a Dolby Atmos mix. <\/p>\n<p>The centerpiece is a sprawling deluxe box set that documents the band\u2019s late-\u201990s era in exhaustive detail \u2014 packed with unreleased demos, rough mixes, live recordings and archival video footage, along with a hefty book and assorted memorabilia. The rollout is already underway with a refreshed version of \u201cThe Memory Remains,\u201d the album\u2019s Marianne Faithfull-featuring single, alongside a newly surfaced 1997 live performance clip. Recorded during the same sessions that produced 1996\u2019s <em>Load<\/em>, the album captured a period where Metallica was actively stretching beyond its thrash roots, folding in bluesy textures, alternative rock influences, and left-field instrumentation.<\/p>\n<p>At the time, <em>ReLoad<\/em> divided fans, but its reputation has steadily evolved, with songs like \u201cFuel\u201d and \u201cThe Memory Remains\u201d becoming live staples \u2014 including on the band\u2019s current M72 World Tour.<\/p>\n<p>The reissue also launches the band\u2019s latest fan engagement push, #GetTheReLoadOut, a follow-up to last year\u2019s <em>Load<\/em>-focused cover contest. This time around, Metallica is expanding the scope beyond traditional covers to include visual and performance art, with winners set to receive signed deluxe box sets.<\/p>\n<p>The timing of the reissue aligns with another forward-looking chapter for the band: its upcoming <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spinmagazine.com\/2026\/02\/metallica-las-vegas-sphere\/\">residency<\/a> at Sphere in Las Vegas that gets underway Oct. 1.
