{"id":1169,"date":"2025-05-16T15:04:00","date_gmt":"2025-05-16T15:04:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/musictechohio.online\/site\/pavement-film-soundtrack-colbert\/"},"modified":"2025-05-16T15:04:00","modified_gmt":"2025-05-16T15:04:00","slug":"pavement-film-soundtrack-colbert","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/musictechohio.online\/site\/pavement-film-soundtrack-colbert\/","title":{"rendered":"Pavement Reveal \u2018Pavements\u2019 Soundtrack, Visit \u2018Colbert\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.spin.com\/files\/2025\/05\/3086794_0072.jpg\" width=\"1290\" height=\"860\" alt=\"\"><\/figure>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spin.com\/2022\/12\/pavement-musical-review\/\">lead-up to<\/a>, and content of, the Pavement-focused film <em>Pavements<\/em> may have been completely baffling, but the beloved rock band is shedding some much-needed light on the proceedings by announcing a May 30 digital release date for its accompanying soundtrack.<\/p>\n<p>The 41-track Matador project includes numerous live and rehearsal recordings from Pavement\u2019s second reunion tour in 2022, as well as what is apparently the first truly new song Pavement song since 1998, \u201cIntro for a Major Motion Picture.\u201d The album is rounded out by dialog snippets and cast recordings from the bizarre <em>Slanted! Enchanted! <\/em>musical featured in the film. The Stephen Malkmus-led group played what they said was their \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.spin.com\/2024\/10\/pavement-go-back-to-the-90s\/\">last show for a long time<\/a>\u201d in October in conjunctin with a New York Film Festival screening of\u00a0<em>Pavements<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Malkmus\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanityfair.com\/style\/story\/vf-interview-stephen-malkmus\" target=\"_blank\">told\u00a0<em>Vanity Fair<\/em><\/a>\u00a0last year he actually thought the initial <em>Pavements<\/em>\u00a0footage he was shown was a \u201cprank,\u201d but that he was \u201cgood\u201d with subsequent edits. For his part, Ross Perry told\u00a0<em>Vanity Fair<\/em>\u00a0in a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanityfair.com\/hollywood\/story\/pavements-exclusive-clip-venice\" target=\"_blank\">separate interview<\/a>\u00a0he thought Malkmus \u201cwas less charmed by seeing himself fictionally depicted in ridiculous clich\u00e9 terms. Anyone who\u2019s not an egomaniac or a sociopath would have to be. All I could say for two years was, \u2018Guys, I really think people will see this for what it is. And I am begging for that trust.\u2019 But I realized, oh, you guys are too cool to watch these terrible movies. You don\u2019t watch\u00a0<em>Rocket Man<\/em>\u00a0or\u00a0<em>Elvis<\/em>\u00a0or any of these things out of even idle curiosity. You just don\u2019t care.
