For some bands, it seems, bowing out can be interpreted in many different ways, some more definitive than others. The original lineup of <strong>Black Sabbath<\/strong> are due to play their last ever concert in July, while a month later <strong>The Who<\/strong> embark on their final tour of America. But as <strong>Dead &amp; Company<\/strong> attest, goodbyes are a tricky business: this latest iteration of the <strong>Grateful Dead<\/strong> stopped touring in 2023, yet at the time of writing are deep into their second residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"post-content google-ld-json\">\n<div class=\"editable-content\">\n<p>When is the end really \u2018the end\u2019\u2026? For some bands, it seems, bowing out can be interpreted in many different ways, some more definitive than others. The original lineup of <strong>Black Sabbath<\/strong> are due to play their last ever concert in July, while a month later <strong>The Who<\/strong> embark on their final tour of America. But as <strong>Dead &amp; Company<\/strong> attest, goodbyes are a tricky business: this latest iteration of the <strong>Grateful Dead<\/strong> stopped touring in 2023, yet at the time of writing are deep into their second residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n<p>In this issue, <strong>Bill Ward<\/strong>, <strong>Roger Daltrey<\/strong> and <strong>Pete Townshend<\/strong>, and <strong>Bobby Weir<\/strong> share their thoughts on their touring efforts going forward. Rest assured, though, it\u2019s not time just yet for eulogies and prayers: these heroic, illustrious careers will continue for some time to come, although the exact details presently remain elusive. Weir certainly sees a busy future for his outfit, even if he\u2019s no longer involved\u2026 \u201cI had this dream a few years back now when we were all onstage with Dead &amp; Company,\u201d he tells us. \u201cI looked across the stage and <strong>John Mayer<\/strong>\u2019s hair was turning silver. I looked back and the drummers were a couple of kids who had been understudies. It panned back and it wasn\u2019t me who was playing the guitar. That\u2019s what I\u2019m looking for, that\u2019s where I wanna take this\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere, a trove of previously unheard <strong>Nick Drake<\/strong> music shines compelling new light on one of music\u2019s most beloved albums.
