\n\tHarbourView Equity Partners has acquired part of Grammy Award-winning songwriter\/producer Rodney \u201cDarkchild\u201d Jerkins<\/a>\u2018 royalty catalog, the Newark, N.J.-based entertainment company said on Thursday (May 29).<\/p>\n

\n\tThe deal was facilitated by Chapter Two, a Stockholm-based tech company that gathers royalty data for catalog buyers and sellers to forecast future income and speed up the due diligence process. With backing from Swedish House Mafia<\/a>\u2018s\u00a0DJ Axwell and Sebastian Knutsson<\/strong>, one of the founders of the mobile phone gaming company King, Chapter Two has also facilitated acquisition deals for music rights to tracks by Lil Nas X<\/a> and BTS<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\n\tJerkins, who was inducted into<\/a> the Songwriters Hall of Fame earlier this year, is known for co-writing and producing Destiny\u2019s Child<\/a>\u2018s \u201cSay My Name,\u201d which won a Grammy for Best R&B Song in 2000, and producing Sam Smith<\/a>\u2019s \u201cStay With Me,\u201d which won the Record of the Year Grammy in 2014. His list of hit songs also includes \u201cTelephone\u201d by Lady Gaga<\/a> featuring Beyonc\u00e9<\/a>, \u201cD\u00e9j\u00e0 Vu\u201d by Beyonc\u00e9 featuring Jay-Z<\/a>, Brandy<\/a> and Monica<\/a>\u2018s \u201cThe Boy is Mine,\u201d Justin Bieber<\/a>\u2019s \u201cAs Long As You Love Me, and H.E.R.<\/a>\u2019s \u201cHard Place.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tTerms of the deal were not disclosed, and HarbourView did not specify which songs were included in the acquisition.<\/p>\n

\n\tLed by Sherrese Clarke<\/strong> and launched in 2021, HarbourView has acquired some 75 catalogs comprising 41,000 songs from artists like T-Pain, Luis Fonsi, Kane Brown and Wiz Khalifa. As of Dec. 31, HarbourView, which also has stakes in production companies MACRO and Mucho Mas Media, had $2.67 billion in regulatory assets under management.<\/p>\n

\n\tHarbourView\u2019s legal counsel for the deal was Fox Rothschild, while Jerkins was represented by Pamela L. Klein<\/strong> of Rossi Baldivia Klein Fine & Spector, P.C.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
