What would you do if you truly lived like time was limited?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Writing the track, he says, gave the band a chance to push past their personal beliefs and speak to something much bigger. Having someone like Blacc sing on it, \u201cbrought even more heart and weight to that mission.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom a lyrical standpoint, it\u2019s one of the strongest songs I\u2019ve been a part of writing,\u201d says<strong> <\/strong>Blacc. \u201cThis line\u2014\u2018when I tumble over, the broken pieces fit together better in the end\u2019\u2014reminds me of the Japanese art of kintsugi, where broken pieces are mended with gold. The broken parts of us, when they\u2019re healed, become the strongest parts of us.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<lite-youtube videoid=\"smvoB2RN06c\" style=\"bottom: 0; height: 100%; left: 0; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; width: 100%; max-width:100%;\"><\/lite-youtube>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Based in Wichita, Kansas, 2\u0141\u00d8T is known for combining elements of hip-hop, soul, jazz, funk, rock, and electronic into what they describe as electronic jam music. The five-piece band\u2014with members Rudy Love Jr. (vocals-keys), Omar Jawar (drums), Sage Judd (keys), Robert Trusko (bass), and Koch\u2014was founded on the idea of advocating for social change, focusing on overcoming addiction, supporting youth, and criminal justice. With every performance and new song, they are on a mission to activate and inspire audiences through their music and commitment to making a difference.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>2\u0141\u00d8T has released a string of singles, including \u201cNever Knew You (featuring Michael Kang of the String Cheese Incident), \u201cArrow of Time,\u201d and \u201cCall For Me,\u201d along with their 2024 debut album, <em>Entropy<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The band\u2019s name, like its debut album, draws from the second law of thermodynamics, the idea that in any isolated system, the total entropy (a measure of disorder) will always increase over time. 2\u0141\u00d8T, as the group\u2019s name is written, is meant to symbolize the members\u2019 collective goal of resisting entropy and inspiring goodness in people.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Where <em>Entropy<\/em> explored how to make peace with chaos, \u201cImmortal\u201d is a call to action to transcend it.<\/p>\n<p>Blacc\u2019s music is equally inspiring. The Southern California artist is globally recognized for his anthems \u201cWake Me Up,\u201d with Avicii, \u201cThe Man,\u201d and \u201cI Need A Dollar.\u201d Like 2\u0141\u00d8T, advocacy is a driving force in his career and personal life. (Credit: Mike Garcia)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In February, Blacc released his sixth album, <em>Stand Together<\/em>, a project meant to inspire collaboration and positive change.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Now, together with 2\u0141\u00d8T, Blacc continues to inspire with \u201cImmortal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWorking on \u201cImmortal\u201d with 2\u0141\u00d8T was a lot of fun,\u201d he says. \u201cIt took me back to my days in the studio with Avicii\u2014experimenting with different genres, blending styles, and evolving the track from an acoustic demo or early version into something powerful. I\u2019m really proud of how this song turned out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Blacc and 2\u0141\u00d8T will reunite to perform \u201cImmortal\u201d live at the <a href=\"http:\/\/somewhere-fest.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Somewhere Festival &amp; Conference<\/a> in Wichita\u2014one of the most socially-conscious festivals in the country. Its purpose is to be a vehicle for meaning, connection, and social change by offering real-world opportunities for impact.<\/p>\n<p>Love, Jr., perhaps sums up best the intention of 2\u0141\u00d8T\u2019s and Blacc\u2019s collaboration.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe world feels heavy right now, and this song is a reminder that you still get to choose how you show up,\u201d says Love, Jr. \u201cAloe helped us shape it into something that could reach beyond our scene and connect with anyone looking for hope, resilience, or direction.
