For Mike Posner<\/a>, “I Took A Pill In Ibiza” was never about topping charts. It was a moment of\u00a0vulnerability that captured what Avicii knew too well: how success can amplify the very emptiness it’s supposed to fill.<\/p>\n

“He never cared, unlike almost everybody in the music industry, if I was number one, or number one million,” Posner told EDM.com<\/em><\/a> back in 2021. “In this period where I’m sitting at home with an empty calendar, he asked me to work.”<\/p>\n

Now, the track echoes louder than ever with The Forest Remix Pack<\/em>, a new collection of reworks by some of dance music’s biggest names. Nearly a decade after he stood alone on a digital cliffside and confessed, “I took a pill in Ibiza to show Avicii I was cool,” Posner is returning to the dancefloor with a new EP of festival-ready remixes produced by Steve Aoki, Laidback Luke, Trivecta, BONNIE X CLYDE and Prosecute.<\/p>\n

Coming on the heels of Posner\u2019s appearance at EDC Las Vegas and ahead of his upcoming performance at Electric Forest, the new collection arrives at a moment of reinvigoration for the singer-songwriter. Each remix showcases a different vision of \u201cI Took A Pill In Ibiza,\u201d tracing its bittersweet narrative across a spectrum of electronic subgenres.<\/p>\n

“Remixing ‘I Took A Pill In Ibiza’ was deeply personal for me,” Aoki said of his connection to the track, recalling the emotional gravity of performing it live with Posner at EDC Las Vegas. “There was so much raw emotion in the air. You could feel every lyric.”<\/p>\n

After Aoki’s opening salvo, Laidback Luke takes the baton and turns in a rhythmic piano-house rework that pulses with kinetic warmth. Trivecta\u2019s take swells with soaring melodic drum & bass, injecting the melancholic original with a cinematic sense of hope while BONNIE X CLYDE dive deeper into introspection, layering Afro-house textures beneath Posner’s ageless vocals. Prosecute then caps off the collection, reimagining the track through the lens of brooding melodic bass.<\/p>\n

Out now via Aoki’s Dim Mak imprint, the EP follows the label’s recent release of Headliner Remix Pack<\/em><\/a>, a collection of reworks of Posner’s breakthrough debut single “Cooler Than Me.” That record, which features remixes from Getter, Deorro and more, also underscores the enduring appeal of his earliest work.\u00a0<\/p>\n
