{"id":3078,"date":"2025-06-24T09:32:25","date_gmt":"2025-06-24T09:32:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/musictechohio.online\/site\/mick-ralphs-of-mott-the-hoople-and-bad-company-has-died-aged-81-150264\/"},"modified":"2025-06-24T09:32:25","modified_gmt":"2025-06-24T09:32:25","slug":"mick-ralphs-of-mott-the-hoople-and-bad-company-has-died-aged-81-150264","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/musictechohio.online\/site\/mick-ralphs-of-mott-the-hoople-and-bad-company-has-died-aged-81-150264\/","title":{"rendered":"Mick Ralphs of Mott The Hoople and Bad Company has died, aged 81"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div class=\"post-preview\">\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"post-content google-ld-json\">\n<div class=\"editable-content\">\n<p>Guitarist, singer and songwriter <strong>Mick Ralphs<\/strong> \u2013 founding member of both <strong>Mott The Hoople<\/strong> and <strong>Bad Company<\/strong> \u2013 has died aged 81 following a long illness.<\/p>\n<p>He had been unable to perform since suffering a stroke in November 2016, not long after a <strong>Bad Company<\/strong> reunion tour culminated in a triumphant headline show at London\u2019s 02 Arena.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mick Ralphs<\/strong> co-founded <strong>Mott The Hoople<\/strong> in 1969, writing songs such as \u201cOne Of The Boys\u201d and \u201cSucker\u201d, often in collaboration with frontman <strong>Ian Hunter<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p>Ralphs left the band following 1973\u2019s <strong>Mott<\/strong> to form supergroup <strong>Bad Company<\/strong> with former <strong>Free<\/strong> members <strong>Paul Rodgers<\/strong> and <strong>Simon Kirke<\/strong>. He wrote or co-wrote most of their big hits, including \u201cGood Lovin\u2019 Gone Bad\u201d and US Top 10 single \u201cFeel Like Makin\u2019 Love\u201d. <\/p>\n<p>Ralphs also wrote \u201cFlying Hour\u201d with <strong>George Harrison<\/strong>, toured with <strong>David Gilmour<\/strong> and released three solo albums, before participating in various <strong>Mott The Hoople<\/strong> and <strong>Bad Company<\/strong> reunions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur Mick has passed, my heart just hit the ground,\u201d wrote <strong>Paul Rodgers<\/strong> in tribute. \u201cHe has left us with exceptional songs and memories. He was my friend, my songwriting partner, an amazing and versatile guitarist who had the greatest sense of humour. Our last conversation a few days ago we shared a laugh but it won\u2019t be our last. There are many memories of Mick that will create laughter. Condolences to everyone who loved him.
