Hope you like her new direction! Whether it\u2019s called Lasso<\/strong>, The Right One Will Stay<\/strong>, Classic<\/strong> or something different entirely, Lana\u2019s new album is said to moving in a country direction. Even if support group London Grammar<\/strong> don\u2019t exactly set the tone for that, Lana\u2019s pre-show playlist does \u2013 hitting the crowd with historic pop\/country crossover hits like Jimmy Dean<\/strong>\u2019s \u201cBig Bad John<\/strong>\u201d (1961), \u201cJackson<\/strong>\u201d by Johnny Cash and June Carter<\/strong> (1967) and Glen Campbell<\/strong>\u2019s \u201cRhinestone Cowboy<\/strong>\u201d (1975).<\/p>\n

Actual husband<\/strong><\/p>\n

Much as she did at Stagecoach<\/strong> in the spring, Lana opens the show with a new song, \u201cHusband Of Mine<\/strong>\u201d. Point of difference for Cardiff: her actual husband \u2013 alligator tour guide Jeremy Dufrene<\/strong> \u2013 is in the house! \u201cIt\u2019s a long way to travel,\u201d she explains as she sniffles a bit after embracing him mid-song. \u201cThese are good tears!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHappy Birthday Lana!\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

There weren\u2019t a load of signs commemorating Lana\u2019s 40th<\/sup> birthday last Saturday, but the one caught by the roving crowd camera does raise a endearingly massive cheer when it\u2019s shown on the big screen.<\/p>\n

\u201c57\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Maybe the best of the new songs we\u2019ve heard so far \u2013 certainly the catchiest \u2013 \u201c57<\/strong>\u201d gets a huge welcome from Lana\u2019s Welsh fandom, who are hip enough to have pre-learned the words from Stagecoach footage on YouTube. Featuring her Spotify stats as a chorus \u201cI\u2019ve got 57.5 million listeners on Spotify\u2026\u201d. It\u2019s genius, because it\u2019s true.<\/p>\n

\u201cYoung And Beautiful\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Great song anyway but improved by Lana\u2019s concession to the traditional \u201cpier into the crowd\u201d stadium gig strategy. Followed by a Lady Diana Spencer<\/strong>-style train of gauzy dress fabric, she performs the song from beneath the kind of floral arch under which American couples get married in idyllic locations. Do we take this theatre? We do.<\/p>\n
