Though Simon Cowell had some tough love for the reality star \u2014 \u201cFor me, the vocals weren\u2019t great, Tom\u201d \u2014 the judge ended up giving Sandoval a yes after all for \u201cstaying true\u201d to himself. It pretty much destroyed my life. It was absurd how much coverage and how big it became,\u201d the reality TV star shared in his intro, referencing \u201cScandoval,\u201d which broke in May 2023. Sandoval had been caught by Ariana Madix, his then girlfriend of nearly 10 years, cheating with one of her closest friends and their <em>VPR<\/em> castmate Raquel (now Rachel) Leviss. \u201cI just hope the audience and the judges see who I am as a musician.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tWhen judge Simon Cowell \u2014 who is a friend of the reality show\u2019s namesake, Lisa Vanderpump \u2014 asked why he wanted to make the transition to music, Sandoval pointed out that he had been labeled \u201cthe most hated man in America\u201d by<em> The New York Times<\/em>, and was now seeking to correct the course of his wrecked life. \u201cIt was really, really rough, and I was in a very, very dark place.
