{"id":3426,"date":"2025-07-05T22:04:00","date_gmt":"2025-07-05T22:04:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/musictechohio.online\/site\/ozzy-osbourne-black-sabbath-last-show\/"},"modified":"2025-07-05T22:04:00","modified_gmt":"2025-07-05T22:04:00","slug":"ozzy-osbourne-black-sabbath-last-show","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/musictechohio.online\/site\/ozzy-osbourne-black-sabbath-last-show\/","title":{"rendered":"Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbath Give Final Live Performances"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.spin.com\/files\/2025\/02\/GettyImages-591641964-scaled.jpg\" width=\"1290\" height=\"858\" alt=\"\"><\/figure>\n<p>Rock\u2019n\u2019roll farewells often don\u2019t last, but Black Sabbath and its frontman Ozzy Osbourne tonight (July 5) gave what they\u2019ve insisted will be their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spin.com\/2025\/02\/guns-n-roses-tool-black-sabbath-farewell-show\/\">final live performances ever<\/a> as part of a day-long blowout bash dubbed Back to the Beginning at Vila Park in Black Sabbath\u2019s Birmingham, England, hometown.<\/p>\n<p>The event was loaded with appearances by admirers and peers, from Rage Against the Machine\u2019s Tom Morello leading a house band with members of Megadeth, Judas Priest, Extreme and Red Hot Chili Peppers to Guns N\u2019 Roses, Tool, Metallica, Aerosmith\u2019s Steven Tyler, Slayer, Anthrax, Pantera, Lamb of God, Mastodon, Alice in Chains, Smashing Punpkins\u2019 Billy Corgan and Gojira. It was also the original quartet\u2019s first time onstage together in 20 years.<\/p>\n<p>First backed for a solo set by drummer Tommy Clufetos, bassist Mike Inez, keyboardist Adam Wakeman and longtime guitarist Zakk Wyldem the Prince of Darkness managed to belt out \u201cI Don\u2019t Know,\u201d \u201cMr. Crowley,\u201d \u201cSuicide Solution,\u201d \u201cMama, I\u2019m Coming Home\u201d and \u201cCrazy Train\u201d while seated on an elaborate throne with black wings.<\/p>\n<p>Black Sabbath themselves closed the show with \u201cWar Pigs,\u201d \u201cN.I.B.,\u201d \u201can extended \u201cIron Man\u201d and \u201cParanoid,\u201d after which Osbourne was presented with a cake and fireworks reverberated throughout the venue. \u201cIt\u2019s so good to be on this fucking stage,\u201d he proclaimed.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in the show, Sabbath and Osbourne\u2019s profound influence over the history of heavy metal and hard rock was apparent. Guns N\u2019 Roses played three Sabbath covers for the first time in their nearly 40-year career (\u201cNever Say Die,\u201d \u201cJunior\u2019s Eyes\u201d and \u201cSabbath Bloody Sabbath\u201d), while Metallica rattled off their maiden version of \u201cJohnny Blade\u201d from Sabbath\u2019s 1978 album <em>Never Say Die!<\/em> Even Pantera got into the act by covering Sabbath\u2019s \u201cElectric Funeral\u201d for the first time in their career.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith merging and collaborating metal acts swapping over on a revolving stage, it\u2019s a fast-spinning Lazy Susan of metal history,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.the-independent.com\/arts-entertainment\/music\/reviews\/black-sabbath-review-ozzy-osbourne-back-to-the-beginning-b2781710.html\" target=\"_blank\">wrote <em>The Independent<\/em><\/a>. \u201cYet there\u2019s precious little ego and plenty of heartfelt humility amongst the huge names on display.
