\n\tUPDATE (July 23):<\/strong> Two more dates have been added to Zac Brown Band\u2019s Sphere run, on Jan. 9 and 10.<\/em><\/p>\n

\n\tIf the immersive, state-of-the-art entertainment venue Sphere didn\u2019t already exist, Zac Brown<\/a> would have had to invent it.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019ve been wanting to do a spectacle for a couple years,\u201d he tells Billboard<\/em>. \u201cI\u2019ve been planning to figure out how to do something where the production and the fan experience is just on [another] level. And then in my planning for doing that, I heard about the Sphere and toured the building while it was under construction. I was like, \u2018This is the place\u2026\u2019 The Sphere is the greatest canvas that\u2019s ever been created for imagination.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tA little more than two years after Sphere opened in September 2023 with U2<\/a>, Brown and his Zac Brown Band <\/a>mates will get their time there with Love & Fear<\/em>, a four-show limited engagement that coincides with the Dec. 5 release of the band\u2019s similarly titled, seventh full-length album. The Sphere dates are Dec. 5-6 and Dec. 12-13. When asked if he anticipates more concerts being added, Brown simply says, \u201cYes.\u201d (On July 23, two additional dates were added: Jan. 9-10.)<\/p>\n

\n\tLast week, the band scrubbed their socials and hinted that a new chapter was coming, posting on Instagram, \u201cThere\u2019s no way to sum up what the last chapter has meant to us\u2026The next chapter? It\u2019s the biggest one yet.\u201d\u00a0 Then on Monday (July 14), the band posted<\/a> the dramatic cover of the Love & Fear<\/em> album, which features what looks like a battle between a mythical angel and devil, with the message, \u201cTwo sides of the same truth.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBrown calls the Sphere appearance and the new album \u201c2.0 for our band. There\u2019s some bands, they keep going for a while and then they kind of get tired, they stop,\u201d he says. \u201cBut my passion and my creativity is as good now as it\u2019s ever been, and I just want to keep pushing the envelope of what our band is capable of and bringing our fans along for the ride\u2026 This is our chance to show that we\u2019re not slowing down. We\u2019ve actually got our foot on the gas.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Grammy-winning band, who has landed five albums on top of Billboard\u2019<\/em>s Country Albums chart, began working on the album two-and-half years ago and then creating the visuals for the Sphere run began 14 months ago. \u201cEvery single detail of [the] show is going to be extremely memorable,\u201d Brown says. He promises the performance will (in a good way) \u201cmake people\u2019s eyes bleed and make them feel every range of the human emotion that we\u2019re capable of.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe album, which the band is self-releasing, and the show tell the story of Brown\u2019s life. \u201cYou know, I\u2019ve never really told the story of my life to anyone that doesn\u2019t know me really well,\u201d the Georgia native says, \u201cand so this is a chance to get to do all of those things.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe album\u2019s first track, \u201cI Ain\u2019t Worried About It,\u201d is already out, while a new track, \u201cLet It Run\u201d (feat. Snoop Dogg<\/a>), will come out Friday (July 18). The album also features Dolly Parton<\/a> and Marcus King.<\/p>\n

\n\tBrown goes so far as to call Love & Fear<\/em> \u201cone of our masterpieces, and the amount of work we put into that is incredible, from having a 40-piece orchestra [to] having a 20-piece choir.\u201d He says that same detail has gone into the enveloping experience the band has created for Sphere. The symphony\u2019s parts for the Sphere show were recorded on the Sphere stage and will be incorporated into the visuals, Brown says.<\/p>\n

\n\tBrown, who has seen Phish, Eagles<\/a> and Anyma at the venue, says the process of planning the show has been all-consuming. \u201cOur challenge for ourselves is to raise the bar. You\u2019re only limited to your imagination and your budget,\u201d he says. \u201cIt\u2019s this massive creative mountain, but I absolutely love it, and I\u2019m obsessed with it. You\u2019re kind of building the plane as you\u2019re flying it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe show will take attendees on a journey, featuring around six songs from the new album with many of the multi-platinum group\u2019s hits reimagined in a way that builds a cohesive story, Brown says.<\/p>\n

\n\tHe says he has no hesitation about revealing so much of himself in the album and show. \u201cI think that\u2019s what makes our humanity,\u201d he says. \u201cAs an artist, you\u2019re naked on a fence anyway and people can either say, \u2018That\u2019s amazing,\u2019 or they can throw rotten vegetables at you. But that\u2019s a risk that you have to be willing to take. I\u2019m unapologetically musically going to do the things that I feel like I\u2019m led to do. It\u2019s just an expression of my life and my influences and the things that happened. If you don\u2019t know who you are, the music industry will chew you up and spit you out the other side. You\u2019ve got to fight hard for who you are.\u201d<\/p>\n
