\n\tOlivia Rodrigo<\/a> was joined by surprise guest Weezer<\/a> during her headlining set at Lollapalooza 2025.<\/p>\n

\n\tOn Friday (Aug. 1), the 22-year-old pop superstar made her debut on the second day of the Chicago music festival at Grant Park. Toward the end of her evening set, she surprised the crowd by inviting Weezer to join her on stage. <\/p>\n

\n\tIn a fan-captured video<\/a> on TikTok, Rodrigo shared with the crowd that Weezer was the first band she ever saw live.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cYou always remember your first concert. It\u2019s a very, very special moment,\u201d the \u201cDrivers License\u201d singer said. \u201cI remember my first concert. It was a very memorable night. I watched this incredible band and I am so over the moon, because that incredible band is actually here tonight to play a few songs. Will you please say hello to Weezer?\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWeezer then joined Rodrigo for performances of their classic hits \u201cBuddy Holly\u201d and \u201cSay It Ain\u2019t So,\u201d both from the group\u2019s 1994 self-titled album. She played guitar and harmonized alongside frontman Rivers Cuomo during the collaboration. Check out clips from the performances here<\/a> and here<\/a> on X.<\/p>\n

\n\tThis marked Weezer\u2019s first Lollapalooza performance since they headlined alongside Widespread Panic in 2005.<\/p>\n

\n\tThis isn\u2019t the first time Rodrigo has brought out surprise guests during her recent festival appearances. She recently invited David Byrne onstage<\/a> at New York\u2019s Governors Ball to perform Talking Heads\u2019 1983 hit \u201cBurning Down the House,\u201d and welcomed The Cure\u2019s Robert Smith<\/a> at this year\u2019s Glastonbury Festival to perform \u201cFriday I\u2019m In Love\u201d and \u201cJust Like Heaven.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tDuring her Lolla set on Saturday, Rodrigo opened with \u201cObsessed\u201d and \u201cBallad of a Homeschooled Girl,\u201d and also performed hits including \u201cDriver\u2019s License,\u201d \u201cTraitor,\u201d \u201cBad Idea, Right?\u201d and \u201cLove Is Embarrassing.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Chicago festival continues Saturday (Aug. 2) with headliners R\u00fcf\u00fcs Du Sol and TWICE, followed by closers Sabrina Carpenter and A$AP Rocky on Sunday.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
