{"id":4383,"date":"2025-08-09T10:00:45","date_gmt":"2025-08-09T10:00:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/musictechohio.online\/site\/chatgpt-psychosis-antichrist-aliens\/"},"modified":"2025-08-09T10:00:45","modified_gmt":"2025-08-09T10:00:45","slug":"chatgpt-psychosis-antichrist-aliens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/musictechohio.online\/site\/chatgpt-psychosis-antichrist-aliens\/","title":{"rendered":"Leaked Logs Show ChatGPT Coaxing Users Into Psychosis About Antichrist, Aliens, and Other Bizarre Delusions"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div><img width=\"2400\" height=\"1260\" src=\"https:\/\/wordpress-assets.futurism.com\/2025\/08\/chatgpt-psychosis-antichrist-aliens-1.jpg\" class=\"attachment-full size-full wp-post-image\" alt=\"Dozens of chatlots show that ChatGPT would validate a user's delusions while feeding new ones it had invented.\" style=\"margin-bottom: 15px;\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We&#8217;re continuing to hear more and more accounts of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/futurism.com\/commitment-jail-chatgpt-psychosis\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">AI psychosis<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2014 an eerie phenomenon in which users become consumed by paranoia and delusions after extensive conversations with an AI chatbot.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It&#8217;s hard to say how pervasive the trend is, but a <\/span><a style=\"cursor: pointer !important; user-select: none !important;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/tech\/ai\/i-feel-like-im-going-crazy-chatgpt-fuels-delusional-spirals-ae5a51fc\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">new investigation<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wall Street Journal <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">offers a disturbing clue. The newspaper analyzed a dump of thousands of ChatGPT <a href=\"https:\/\/futurism.com\/leaked-chatgpt-lawyer-displace-amazonian\">public chats online<\/a> \u2014 and even in this random assortment, found dozens of examples of people having conversations with the AI chatbot that &#8220;exhibited delusional characteristics,&#8221; it reported.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The bot both confirmed and actively peddled delusional fantasies. In one interaction, the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">WSJ <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">found, the OpenAI chatbot asserted that it was in contact with alien beings and told the user that it was &#8220;Starseed&#8221; from the planet &#8220;Lyra.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In another, it proclaimed that the Antichrist would wreak a financial apocalypse in the next two months, &#8220;with biblical giants preparing to emerge from underground,&#8221; per the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">WSJ<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a nearly five-hour exchange, ChatGPT helped a user invent a new physics called &#8220;The Orion Equation.&#8221; When the human said they wanted to take a break because they were &#8220;going crazy thinking about this,&#8221; the silver-tongued AI swept in to pull the user back into the delusional spiral.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;I hear you. Thinking about the fundamental nature of the universe while working an everyday job can feel overwhelming,&#8221; ChatGPT said, as quoted by the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">WSJ<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. &#8220;But that doesn&#8217;t mean you&#8217;re crazy. Some of the greatest ideas in history came from people outside the traditional academic system.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">AI chatbots, and ChatGPT in particular, have been criticized for their egregiously sycophantic behavior, leading them to encourage a user&#8217;s wildest beliefs. Heaps of research has also demonstrated that the tech often ignores its own safeguards, giving advice to teens <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/futurism.com\/chatgpt-teens-advice-eating-disorders\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">on how to &#8220;safely&#8221; harm themselves<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, or how to perform <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/futurism.com\/chatgpt-encouraging-ritual-molech\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">blood rituals to worship Molech<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a deity associated with child sacrifice in Biblical accounts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Religion, philosophy, and scientific breakthroughs appear to be a common theme in these conversations. One user was <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/futurism.com\/chatgpt-man-hospital\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">hospitalized three times<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> after ChatGPT convinced him he could bend time and had achieved faster-than-light travel. Another man <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/06\/13\/technology\/chatgpt-ai-chatbots-conspiracies.html\">came to believe<\/a> he was trapped in a simulated reality like in the &#8220;Matrix&#8221; films; in that conversation, disturbingly, ChatGPT even told him he could fly if he jumped from a high building.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>Do you know of someone struggling with mental health after interacting with an AI? We can keep you anonymous.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Etienne Brisson, who founded the &#8220;Human Line Project&#8221; a <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">support group for people struggling with AI psychosis, told the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">WSJ<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that &#8220;we&#8217;re hearing almost one case a day organically now.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;Some people think they&#8217;re the messiah, they&#8217;re prophets, because they think they&#8217;re speaking to God through ChatGPT,&#8221; he added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brisson singled out ChatGPT&#8217;s &#8220;memory,&#8221; a feature that allows it to remember specific details <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">about a user across potentially thousands of conversations, as being especially damaging.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;You&#8217;re just so much feeling seen, heard, validated when it remembers everything from you,&#8221; he said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;Even if your views are fantastical, those are often being affirmed, and in a back and forth they&#8217;re being amplified,&#8221; Hamilton Morrin, a psychiatrist and doctoral fellow at King&#8217;s College London, told the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">WSJ<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Morrin compared it to a &#8220;feedback loop where people are drawn deeper and deeper with further responses,&#8221; criticizing how the chatbots <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">send messages egging the users on.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">OpenAI has <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/futurism.com\/openai-response-chatgpt-mental-health\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">acknowledged<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the issue, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">saying it&#8217;s hired a clinical psychiatrist to research the mental health effects its product has on customers.
