{"id":4481,"date":"2025-08-13T13:42:09","date_gmt":"2025-08-13T13:42:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/musictechohio.online\/site\/openai-huge-problem-gpt-5\/"},"modified":"2025-08-13T13:42:09","modified_gmt":"2025-08-13T13:42:09","slug":"openai-huge-problem-gpt-5","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/musictechohio.online\/site\/openai-huge-problem-gpt-5\/","title":{"rendered":"OpenAI Has a Major Problem on Its Hands With GPT-5"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"2400\" height=\"1260\" src=\"https:\/\/wordpress-assets.futurism.com\/2025\/08\/openai-huge-problem-gpt-5.jpg\" class=\"attachment-full size-full wp-post-image\" alt=\"It has only been five days since OpenAI's GPT-5 model was released \u2014 and we've been given countless reasons to conclude it's a dud.\" style=\"margin-bottom: 15px;\" decoding=\"async\"><\/div>\n<h2>GPT-Whiff<\/h2>\n<p>It has only been five days since OpenAI&#8217;s long-awaited GPT-5 model <a href=\"https:\/\/futurism.com\/openai-releases-gpt-5\">was released<\/a> \u2014 and in those five days, we&#8217;ve been given countless reasons to conclude that it&#8217;s a bit of a dud.<\/p>\n<p>From\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2025\/08\/12\/gpt-5-bumpy-launch-openai\"><em>Axios<\/em>&#8216; review<\/a> announcing that the new large language model (LLM) has &#8220;landed with a thud&#8221; to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/arstechnica.com\/information-technology\/2025\/08\/the-gpt-5-rollout-has-been-a-big-mess\/\"><em>Ars Technica\u00a0<\/em>making the argument<\/a> that the launch of the much-anticipated new model\u00a0has been &#8220;messy,&#8221; the tech press has spoken \u2014 and the news is not good for OpenAI.<\/p>\n<p>As <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theinformation.com\/articles\/gpt-5-ushers-ais-trough-disillusionment?rc=st1fhw\"><em>The Information<\/em> points out<\/a>, OpenAI may have hit the much-dreaded &#8220;trough of disillusionment,&#8221; where hype and inflated expectations suddenly give way to widespread disappointment when the results don&#8217;t live up to that hype.<\/p>\n<p>In other words, the ChatGPT maker has fallen far short of <a href=\"https:\/\/futurism.com\/sam-altman-lying-tell\">Altman&#8217;s lofty promises<\/a>. It&#8217;s a worrying sign that the industry may be rapidly approaching a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newyorker.com\/culture\/open-questions\/what-if-ai-doesnt-get-much-better-than-this\">point of diminishing returns<\/a>, which doesn&#8217;t bode well considering how much money companies continue to pour into the tech.<\/p>\n<h2>Large Languishing Model<\/h2>\n<p>And it&#8217;s not just the tech media that noticed. Users on social media <a href=\"https:\/\/futurism.com\/gpt-5-sucks\">derided the long-awaited AI model<\/a> as a major step back, with some speculating that OpenAI was looking to cut costs by hamstringing its capabilities.<\/p>\n<p>Despite knowing that GPT-5 wasn&#8217;t going to live up to the hype, the company persisted in overblowing it.
