\n\tThe Grand Ole Opry welcomed Sesame Street<\/em>\u2018s Elmo and Abby Cadabby to help celebrate the Grand Ole Opry\u2019s 100th anniversary, with the beloved characters making their Opry performance debuts.<\/p>\n

\n\tElmo, clad in a blue cowboy shirt and hat, joined Grand Ole Opry member Lauren Alaina<\/a> to sing her hit \u201cRoad Less Traveled.\u201d Alaina \u2014 marking her first Opry appearance after the birth of her daughter<\/a> Beni Doll Arnold in June \u2014 welcomed Elmo to the stage.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAll the way from Sesame Street, y\u2019all make some noise for my friend Elmo!\u201d Alaina said excitedly, as the character popped up from behind the Opry podium. Alaina complimented Elmo\u2019s cowboy costume (\u201cYou like Elmo\u2019s bolo tie?,\u201d the red Muppet asked), before they sang together.<\/p>\n

\n\tMeanwhile, Abby Cadabby performed<\/a> with Tayla Lynn \u2014 granddaughter of late Country Music Hall of Famer and Opry member Loretta Lynn. Together, Abby Cadabby and Lynn sang one of Loretta\u2019s signature songs, \u201cYou\u2019re Lookin\u2019 at Country.\u201d Loretta Lynn herself once appeared on Sesame Street<\/em> in 1984, performing \u201cCount on Me\u201d with The Count.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn the second half of the show, Elmo and Abby joined a steady list of performers, actors, journalists and sports figures who have served as guest announcers on the Opry.<\/p>\n

\n\tThat\u2019s not the only Sesame Street<\/em> connection country music has had recently: Singer\/songwriter and 11-time Grammy winner Chris Stapleton recently made an appearance<\/a> on an episode of Sesame Street<\/em>, joining Elmo, Abby Cadabby and other Sesame Street <\/em>characters to sing the song \u201cYou\u2019ve Got a Friend in Music.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tNumerous country artists have made appearances on Sesame Street <\/em>over the decades since the beloved children\u2019s educational program debuted in 1969, including Garth Brooks, Tim McGraw, Johnny Cash and Faith Hill.<\/p>\n
