\n\t\u201cThis was last Christmas and my wife was out somewhere. I was feeding my son at the dinner table in our house, and I can see like the gate,\u201d Combs said during the interview. \u201cAnd my manager\u2019s pulling up in this Bronco. It\u2019s just the same as his, this blue \u2014 the Raptor package. And he would never show up at my house unannounced, so I was like, \u2018Man, this is kind of weird that he would show up.\u2019 So he walks in and I\u2019m like, \u2018Well, I guess he\u2019s giving me a Christmas present\u2026\u2019 So he comes in and he throws me the keys to this thing and I\u2019m like, \u2018Are you giving me your car, dude?\u2019 Like, \u2018What is this?\u2019<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cHe\u2019s like, \u2018No, man, Garth [Brooks] bought you this,’\u201d Combs recalled. \u201cI was like, \u2018What?’\u201d Combs says, at the time, he didn\u2019t know Brooks very well. \u201cThis is like a $90,000 car, dude!\u201d Combs said.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn 2022, Brooks was honored by the Nashville Songwriter Awards<\/a> during a ceremony held at Nashville\u2019s Ryman Auditorium. During that event, Combs had taken the stage to honor Brooks with a performance of Brooks\u2019 1995 hit \u201cBeaches of Cheyenne.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cHis team asked me to come and be one of the people that sang a song at this thing. Mine was actually \u2018The Beaches of Cheyenne,\u2019 which it was a hit, but it wasn\u2019t like a superhit. So, he was like, \u2018Yeah, this is for you coming and singing that one song.\u2019 \u2026 I guess he had called my manager the following week, or his manager or something, [and asked] \u2018What does Luke like?\u2019 And he\u2019s like \u2018Oh, he likes cars\u2026he has a Bronco and he likes Fords and stuff.\u2019 And he\u2019s like, \u2018Well, I\u2019m gonna order him a Bronco Raptor.\u2019 Well, I guess they were on hold or something, so it took like a year to get it in. So I didn\u2019t talk to him from that night until that thing showed up at my house. Obviously, I called him and then I had it painted.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI called him and was like, \u2018You didn\u2019t have to do this, dude,’\u201d Combs said, adding, \u201cI drove 20 minutes and was there for less than an hour, dude. But he was like, \u2018Yeah, but you could\u2019ve went out and booked your own show that night and made this much money\u2019 \u2026 and I was just kinda floored by that.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tShortly after that event in September 2022, Brooks stated<\/a> on Twitter (now X), \u201cI never felt like a songwriter until tonight when Luke Combs sang the sh$@t out of Beaches of Cheyenne! Thank you @NSAIofficial for yet another unforgettable moment in my life and career!! love, g.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tEarlier this year, Brooks appeared<\/a> at one of Luke Combs\u2019s performances, joining Combs at the Stagecoach Country Music Festival to perform Brooks\u2019s \u201cFriends in Low Places.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
