It explores empowerment, inner struggle, and, natch, relationships, in songs like \u201cOut Loud,\u201d \u201cI Won\u2019t Let Go,\u201d and \u201cPanic Attack\u201d (recorded to sound like an actual panic attack).<\/p>\n<p>Like many during the 2010s, she started out posting covers on YouTube. But her career took off in 2016 when Pink marveled at her rendition of \u201cWhat About Us,\u201d leading to Davina opening for her in the Netherlands.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In 2020, she released her first album, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/album\/07AXbDHj5ElkuQHrnI17bT?si=WBfvLCKaQNKiR7VJNlte6w\" target=\"_blank\">my own world<\/a><\/em>. \u201cIf you create your own song, it\u2019s a piece of yourself,\u201d she says. \u201cIt\u2019s your flavor, it\u2019s your taste. If people can find themselves in my lyrics, that has a lot of value for me.\u201d And they do: a recent wave of posters are choosing \u201cNo One Said It Was Easy\u201d for their TikTok videos.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<lite-youtube videoid=\"4qgOFSX8vXk\" style=\"bottom: 0; height: 100%; left: 0; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; width: 100%; max-width:100%;\"><\/lite-youtube>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Davina has irresistible energy onstage, invariably drenched with sweat at the end of a show. It\u2019s rewarding, she says, seeing the connection fans have to her music. When performing \u201cLullaby,\u201d a song about bullying, she gets close to the audience. \u201cAt the final show of last year\u2019s tour, I was able to walk into the audience and hold hands and hug people who were crying.
