\n\tBrothers Liam and Noel Gallagher returned to Mexico after 17 years on Friday (Sept. 12), and the long wait to see Oasis<\/a>\u00a0live again was worth every moment \u2014 with the differences that led to their 2009 breakup being replaced by a celebration of pure, unfiltered rock and roll.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe British band\u2019s inaugural stop in Latin America on their highly successful Oasis Live \u201925 reunion tour \u2014 which launched in Cardiff, Wales, on July 4 \u2014 drew a crowd of 65,000 fans at Mexico City\u2019s Estadio GNP Seguros, according to promoter OCESA. It was the first of two sold-out nights at the iconic venue, which witnessed a majestic two-hour performance featuring songs that have become generational anthems globally.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201c\u00a1Viva M\u00e9xico!\u201d, shouted frontman Liam Gallagher visibly moved, as he walked onto the stage hand in hand with his brother Noel. \u201cIt\u2019s good to be back!\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe massive screens displayed the message \u201cThis is happening,\u201d followed by \u201cMexico City,\u201d setting the tone for an unforgettable night. Later, Liam delivered another compliment that the crowd celebrated enthusiastically: \u201cYou\u2019re fuchsia, beautiful, heavenly and majestic.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe setlist performed in the Latin American country stayed true to what the band has been playing in previous shows, opening with \u201cHello\u201d and including tracks like \u201cAcquiesce,\u201d \u201cMorning Glory,\u201d \u201cSome Might Say,\u201d \u201cCigarettes & Alcohol,\u201d \u201cSupersonic,\u201d \u201cStand by Me\u201d and \u201cLive Forever.\u201d And closing with the powerful \u201cWonderwall\u201d and \u201cChampagne Supernova.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAs has been the tradition during their reunion tour, Oasis was joined on stage by a cardboard cutout of Spanish soccer manager Pep Guardiola, who leads Manchester City. But here, they gave it a Mexican touch by placing a traditional charro sombrero on it.<\/p>\n

\n\tOne of the most emotional moments came during the performance of \u201cAcquiesce,\u201d when Noel sang the song\u2019s chorus with heartfelt conviction: \u201cBecause we need each other, we believe in one another,\u201d creating a feeling of hope among fans.<\/p>\n

\n\tOn the eve of the show, Oasis announced their arrival by lighting up Mexico City\u2019s sky with a drone display<\/a> that formed the band\u2019s name. The spectacle flew over the majestic Bosque de Chapultepec, surprising locals and quickly going viral on social media.<\/p>\n

\n\tFor this leg of their tour, the Gallagher brothers were joined by guitarist Paul \u201cBonehead\u201d Arthur, guitarist Gem Archer, bassist Andy Bell, and drummer Joey Waronker. The opening act for the night was the American rock band Cage the Elephant.<\/p>\n

\n\tOn Saturday (Sept. 13), Oasis is set to perform a second night in Mexico City before heading back to London for two shows at Wembley Stadium, on Sept. 27 and 28. The Latin American leg of the tour will resume on Nov. 15 in Argentina, continuing through Chile and concluding in Brazil on Nov. 22-23.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
