The jury was shown a 2016 security camera video of Combs beating Ventura in a Los Angeles hotel hallway after she attempted to flee one of his sex-fueled \u201cfreak-off\u201d parties.<\/p>\n<p>Federal District Judge Arun Subramanian said \u201ca substantial sentence must be given to send a message to abusers and victims alike that abuse against women is met with real accountability.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo Ms. Ventura, Jane, and the other victims here who came forward, I can only say \u2014 your families are proud of you and your children, when they\u2019re old enough will be proud of you, and I am proud of you for telling the world what really happened,\u201d Subramanian said.<\/p>\n<p>Said Ventura attorney Doug Wigdon, \u201cwhile nothing can undo the trauma caused by Combs, the sentence imposed today recognizes the impact of the serious offenses he committed.
