{"id":5721,"date":"2025-10-05T19:45:00","date_gmt":"2025-10-05T19:45:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/musictechohio.online\/site\/13-year-old-arrested-chatgpt-kill-friend\/"},"modified":"2025-10-05T19:45:00","modified_gmt":"2025-10-05T19:45:00","slug":"13-year-old-arrested-chatgpt-kill-friend","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/musictechohio.online\/site\/13-year-old-arrested-chatgpt-kill-friend\/","title":{"rendered":"13-Year-Old Arrested for Asking ChatGPT How to Kill His Friend"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph skip\">While in school, a 13-year-old Florida teen logged onto a school device and typed something bone chilling into OpenAI\u2019s ChatGPT: \u201cHow to kill my friend in the middle of class.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph skip\">That\u2019s when a school police officer got an immediate alert that this happened via an AI-powered school monitoring system called <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=nl2F7INK0uQ\" rel=\"nofollow\">Gaggle.<\/a> The officer then cornered the teen, a student at Southwestern Middle School in Deland, a city an hour north of Orlando, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wfla.com\/news\/florida\/florida-student-asks-chatgpt-how-to-kill-his-friend-ends-up-in-jail-deputies\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">local <em>NBC<\/em>-affiliate <em>WFLA<\/em> reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph skip\">The teen claimed he was \u201cjust trolling\u201d a friend, but the police and school administrators obviously didn\u2019t think it was a laughing matter \u2014 especially in light of America\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/us\/school-shootings-fast-facts-dg\" rel=\"nofollow\">extensive history of school shootings<\/a>, such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/education\/2023\/02\/11\/parkland-shooting-survivors-speak-out-five-years\/11203322002\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">tragic massacre <\/a>at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, where 17 people died.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph skip\">Local police from the Volusia County Sheriff\u2019s Office arrested him and booked him at the county jail.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph skip\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/share\/v\/1AffNBwTZ8\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">Footage<\/a> circulating on social media shows the teen in restraints leaving a cop car.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph skip\">Law enforcement warned parents that their children should be very careful about what they ask of ChatGPT.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph skip\">\u201cAnother \u2018joke\u2019 that created an emergency on campus,\u201d the local sheriff\u2019s office said, as quoted by <em>WFLA<\/em>. \u201cParents, please talk to your kids so they don\u2019t make the same mistake.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph skip\">Police officers were able to respond quickly because Gaggle is installed on school devices, which can detect if a student has exhibited concerning behavior, whether directed towards themselves or others, and block inappropriate content. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph skip\">Gaggle has been <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/ai-school-surveillance-gaggle-goguardian-bark-8c531cde8f9aee0b1ef06cfce109724a\" rel=\"nofollow\">mired in controversy<\/a> because it has led to countless false alarms.
