Are you tired of dreaming of a vacation that never seems to come, amidst a <a href=\"https:\/\/futurism.com\/future-society\/entire-economy-ai-bubble\">stagnating economy<\/a> where all the wealth seems to line the pockets of a few powerful billionaires?<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph skip\">Not to worry \u2014 thanks to rapid advances in technology, you can travel from the skyscrapers of New York City to the canals of Amsterdam and be back home in time for instant ramen. The best part? It only costs a few bucks!<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph skip\">No, this isn\u2019t Paul Verhoeven\u2019s 1990 film \u201cTotal Recall.\u201d It\u2019s Endless Summer \u2014 a new AI product created by a Meta designer named Laurent Del Rey. For just a couple dollars, Endless Summer will generate images in your likeness of you chilling in exotic locales, shopping with your totally-real travel buddies, and posing in front of world-renowned landmarks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph skip\">Users can buy anywhere from 30 to 300 photos at a time. Prices vary depending on how long you want your vacation album to be, with 30 photos running just a measly $3.99, or $34.99 for the largest package, <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2025\/10\/18\/too-burned-out-to-travel-this-new-app-fakes-your-summer-vacation-photos-for-you\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">according to <em>TechCrunch<\/em><\/a>. It even has a \u201croom service\u201d option which runs in the background, spitting out two automatically-generated travel pics every morning \u2014 so you can see what you\u2019re missing in your sad little life, apparently.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph skip\">Del Rey, who recently joined Meta\u2019s infamous <a href=\"https:\/\/futurism.com\/ai-researchers-mark-zuckerberg-already-quitting\">Superintelligence lab<\/a> as a product designer, launched the <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/laurentdelrey\/status\/1975221173840679208?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1975221173840679208%7Ctwgr%5E0768e136954ffd00fe39bc4f52f3f8a57457df56%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Ftechcrunch.com%2F2025%2F10%2F18%2Ftoo-burned-out-to-travel-this-new-app-fakes-your-summer-vacation-photos-for-you%2F\" rel=\"nofollow\">generative AI app<\/a> \u201cfor when burnout hits and you need to manifest the soft life u deserve \u2014 with fake vacation pics of you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph skip\">Speaking to <em>TC<\/em>, Del Rey said the tool was inspired by his love for summer travel, a luxury which is increasingly dominated by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/summer-travel-for-rich-americans-luxury-vacation-budgets-spending-slowdown-2025-5\" rel=\"nofollow\">high-income Americans<\/a> as working class people from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.boujeebahamas.com\/blog\/global-travel-spending-trends-soar-as-young-wealthy-travelers-elevate-expenditure-middle-income-tightens-belt-report\" rel=\"nofollow\">around the world<\/a> find themselves <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/lifestyle\/travel\/travel-plans-costs-impact-cbff9fbe?gaa_at=eafs&amp;gaa_n=AWEtsqfJ0_MYCitJ7vVThOqTpuRKeLRPwOluoRgPWi2Yy3ra6tROzHd5FpiY-CMId5E%3D&amp;gaa_ts=68f681dd&amp;gaa_sig=naO6gu_wNoTjm3nQ_4KfTCMVkaX-iRfLsg5SJ0YU6U5CtGaeEMOSk-RmFxPDe118RlSkcM25_Zao4b5-45yiDg%3D%3D\" rel=\"nofollow\">priced out<\/a> of expensive trips.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph skip\">\u201cAs the season ends, I wanted to make something that felt like that,\u201d the designer said. \u201cIt\u2019s from that feeling that I reverse-engineered the product experience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph skip\">The whole app is built on Google Gemini\u2019s Nano-Banana image algorithm, which has already spewed over <a href=\"https:\/\/cybernews.com\/ai-tools\/gemini-nano-banana-review\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">200 million AI slop images<\/a> into the world since its release in August.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph skip\">While the app seems well-intentioned enough, Endless Summer presents itself as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.socialeurope.eu\/from-surveillance-to-sedation-the-rise-of-blue-pill-capitalism\" rel=\"nofollow\">deeply cynical<\/a> product designed to fill user\u2019s Instagram feeds \u2014 not to mention their subconscious \u2014 with false memories of fun and adventure.
