\n\tMore than 550 entertainment industry leaders gathered in Los Angeles on Sunday (Oct. 19) for Creative Community for Peace\u2019s (CCFP) seventh annual Ambassadors of Peace gala to promote dialogue and unity through the arts. The event was held at the Beverly Park residence of Haim Saban<\/strong>, chairman and CEO of Saban Capital Group.<\/p>\n

\n\tThis year\u2019s honorees were Bruce Resnikoff<\/strong>, president\/CEO of Universal Music Enterprises; Jonathan Strauss<\/strong>, CEO of Create Music Group; David Kohan<\/strong>, showrunner and executive producer of Will & Grace <\/em>and Mid-Century Modern<\/em>; his wife, Blair Kohan<\/strong>, partner and board member at United Talent Agency; and actor Jerry O\u2019Connell<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe event featured a performance by John Mellencamp<\/a>, who said, \u201cI don\u2019t like to call it antisemitism. It\u2019s too polite a word for what it really is. Hatred is what it really is. And I may just be a guy with a guitar and sing some songs, but I promise this to the Jewish people: I will remain a staunch ally to you guys as long as I\u2019m on this earth. And to the Jewish haters, I say f\u2014k you.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIn order to make a difference, sometimes we need to get out of our comfort zone, and that\u2019s what I\u2019m doing tonight,\u201d Resnikoff said. \u201cIn the Jewish community, especially during an epidemic of undeniable and widespread antisemitism, we will always need more voices, and particularly in the music industry. CCFP brings caring people together to help amplify our voices, and I\u2019m proud to do my part tonight.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tStrauss added, \u201cGreat companies and great cultures are not built in an echo chamber. Disagreement doesn\u2019t mean division; it means engagement. And there\u2019s nothing worse than apathy.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tCCFP chairman and co-founder David Renzer<\/strong> opened the event and said, \u201cWe have to push back. We have to educate. We believe in coexistence. We believe in the power of music and arts and culture to help build bridges and that it should not be shut down.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAri Ingel<\/strong>, CCFP executive director, added, \u201cJewish pride means knowing where we come from and taking control of where we are going. It means speaking Hebrew with joy, wearing your Magen David in the open, loving Israel, not with blind nationalism, but with eyes wide open, with commitment, with critique and care.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAmong those paying tribute to this year\u2019s honorees were Ringo Starr<\/a>, Def Leppard<\/a>, <\/strong>Paul Rudd, Nick Kroll, Rebecca Romijn, Howie Mandel, Mayim Bialik, Debra Messing, Greg Berlanti, Kelly Ripa <\/strong>and Mark Consuelos.<\/p>\n

\n\tArtists and entertainment leaders in attendance included Gene Simmons <\/a>of KISS<\/a>; Berry Gordy<\/a>, founder of Motown Records; Gary Barber<\/strong>, co-founder Spyglass Media Group; Suzanne de Passe<\/strong>, co-chairwoman of de Passe Jones Entertainment Group; Jody Gerson<\/strong><\/a>, CEO of Universal Music Publishing Group; Jacqueline Saturn<\/strong>, president of Virgin Music; Michael Rotenberg<\/strong>, founder and partner at 3 Arts Entertainment; David Zedeck<\/strong>, global co-head of Music at UTA; Jacob Fenton<\/strong>, UTA partner; Larry Rudolph<\/strong>, founder and CEO of 724 Entertainment; and Phylicia Fant<\/strong>, global head of music industry & culture collaborations at Amazon Music.<\/p>\n

\n\tPrevious Ambassador of Peace honorees include Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason jr.<\/a><\/strong>, Grammy-winning songwriter Diane Warren, reggae star Ziggy Marley<\/a>, music mogul Scooter Braun<\/strong>, chairman & CEO of Sony Music Latin America Afo Verde,<\/strong> and CEO and co-chairman of Warner Records Aaron Bay-Schuck<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
