At time of writing, it’s late October and I\u2019ve already heard what sound like two major contenders for our 2026 Albums Of The Year. That\u2019s not meant to sound like a tease, by the way; I really wanted to illustrate how, as we come to reflect on the music released during the last 12 months, there\u2019s plenty to be excited about just around the corner.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

At time of writing, it\u2019s late October and I\u2019ve already heard what sound like two major contenders for our 2026 Albums Of The Year. That\u2019s not meant to sound like a tease, by the way; I really wanted to illustrate how, as we come to reflect on the music released during the last 12 months, there\u2019s plenty to be excited about just around the corner.<\/p>\n

Our 2025 New Albums poll, meanwhile, reveals much about the discoveries, returning heroes and reassuringly steady progress of many of our favourite artists. Back in January, who would have predicted that our top three New Albums Of The Year would all be by artists enjoying unexpected, but fruitful, second acts? Or how yet another new generation of Americana artists are making their own fresh currency out of deeply respected traditions?<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t want to give too much away, so I\u2019d advise you to drop everything now and head to page 53, where our Review Of 2025 begins. There\u2019s New Albums, Reissues, Compilations, Films, Music Documentaries and Books as well as some very special joint interviews. Please let us know what your favourite new albums of 2025 are and we\u2019ll print a selection in Feedback. Let the great debate begin!<\/p>\n

There\u2019s a lot to enjoy elsewhere, of course, not least John Robinson\u2019s cover story on The Beatles\u2019 Anthology. Regular readers will know that few write as well about the Fabs as John, and this cover story delivers plenty. Of one hotly contended Beatles rarity, Giles Martin tells us, \u201cFor some reason, Beatles fans think they own it. \u2018It\u2019s our right to have this.\u2019 And it\u2019s not.\u201d<\/p>\n
