{"id":686,"date":"2025-05-10T06:06:00","date_gmt":"2025-05-10T06:06:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/musictechohio.online\/site\/the-weeknd-tour-kickoff\/"},"modified":"2025-05-10T06:06:00","modified_gmt":"2025-05-10T06:06:00","slug":"the-weeknd-tour-kickoff","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/musictechohio.online\/site\/the-weeknd-tour-kickoff\/","title":{"rendered":"The Weeknd Resumes \u2018After Hours Til Dawn\u2019 Tour In Phoenix"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.spin.com\/files\/2025\/05\/2214318743-scaled.jpg\" width=\"1290\" height=\"860\" alt=\"\"><\/figure>\n<p>The Weeknd began his After Hours Til Dawn stadium tour last night (May 9) in front of 60,000 fans at State Farm Stadium in the Phoenix suburb of Glendale, during which he debuted portions of seven songs from his latest album, <em>Hurry Up Tomorrow<\/em>, and welcomed opening act Playboi Carti for two others in the middle of the set.<\/p>\n<p>The show began with the Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, surrounded by 30 red cloaked-dancers on a set adorned with an enormous gold statue of what appeared to be a female robot made by Japanese artist\u00a0Hajime Sorayam and both gold rings and ruins. Success Just Came\u2019<\/a>\n\t\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.spin.com\/2025\/05\/5-albums-i-cant-live-without-paul-leary-of-butthole-surfers\/\">5 Albums I Can\u2019t Live Without: Paul\u00a0Leary of Butthole Surfers<\/a>\n\t\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.spin.com\/2025\/05\/pearl-jam-peter-frampton-nashville\/\">Pearl Jam Welcome Peter Frampton For \u2018Black\u2019 In Nashville<\/a>\n\t\t<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Among the <em>Hurry Up Tomorrow<\/em> songs performed for the first time were \u201cOpening Night,\u201d \u201cBaptized in Fear\u201d and \u201cNiagara Falls.\u201d Carti joined the proceedings for the new album\u2019s \u201cTimeless\u201d and a version of his own \u201cRATHER LIE,\u201d while the evening was rounded out with covers of Metro Boomin\u2019 \u201cCreepin\u201d and the David Lynch-associated \u201cIn Heaven (Lady in the Radiator Song).\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During his own opening set, Carti played 11 songs from his latest LP, <em>MUSIC<\/em>, as well as the oldie \u201cMagnolia,\u201d which hadn\u2019t been performed at a proper concert since 2019. Producer\/artist Mike Dean started the show by airing his brand new instrumental album, <em>425<\/em>, in its entirety. Throughout, Dean played everything from synthesizers to an effects-drenched electric guitar to saxophone.<\/p>\n<p>The After Hours Til Dawn trek resumes May 24 in Detroit and runs through Sept. 3 in San Antonio, Tx.
