{"id":6942,"date":"2025-11-24T14:30:50","date_gmt":"2025-11-24T14:30:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/musictechohio.online\/site\/google-denies-gmail-ai\/"},"modified":"2025-11-24T14:30:50","modified_gmt":"2025-11-24T14:30:50","slug":"google-denies-gmail-ai","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/musictechohio.online\/site\/google-denies-gmail-ai\/","title":{"rendered":"Google Denies Reading Your Gmail to Train Its AI"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph skip\">Google has denied that it\u2019s been quietly rifling through users\u2019 personal Gmail accounts to train its AI models on their emails and attachments.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph skip\">Cybersecurity company Malwarebytes caused an uproar last week when it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.malwarebytes.com\/blog\/news\/2025\/11\/gmail-is-reading-your-emails-and-attachments-to-train-its-ai-unless-you-turn-it-off\" rel=\"nofollow\">warned in a blog post<\/a> that the tech giant was rolling out features that gave its AI models access to private messages and files.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph skip\">However, Malwarebytes later added a giant correction to the story, writing that the \u201cway Google recently rewrote and surfaced [the features] led a lot of people (including us) to believe Gmail content might be used to train Google\u2019s AI models, and that users were being opted in automatically.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph skip\">But after \u201ctaking a closer look at Google\u2019s documentation and reviewing other reporting,\u201d it conceded, \u201cthat doesn\u2019t appear to be the case.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph skip\">A Google spokesperson likewise called the claim \u201cmisleading,\u201d saying the company had \u201cnot changed anyone\u2019s settings.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph skip\">\u201cGmail Smart Features have existed for many years, and we do not use your Gmail content for training our Gemini AI model,\u201d the spokesperson said. \u201cLastly, we are always transparent and clear if we make changes to our terms of service and policies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph skip\">The controversy highlights ongoing backlash to tech companies shoving their AI features down the throats of users at all costs.
