In an effort to provide an overview of the latest acquisitions, mergers, joint ventures, licensing agreements and more, Billboard<\/em> publishes a list of all of the latest pacts that have hit our radar every other week.<\/p>\n

\n\tPrimary Wave Music is first up this week for making a deal with Game My Fan, described as \u201ca direct to fan music distribution platform,\u201d through which Game My Fan will turn both classic albums and new music in Primary Wave\u2019s catalog into \u201cartist-personalized games, creating an entirely new product category, revenue stream, and fan engagement channel,\u201d according to a post<\/a> on Primary Wave\u2019s website.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cGame My Fan creates super-casual mobile games that sync perfectly with music in realtime. As each album plays, the game changes dynamically, with everything matching tune, time, and tempo,\u201d the post adds, noting that music purchased through the games \u201cis 100% locked to the platform and cannot be played outside the game, protecting artist rights while delivering unique value.\u201d (Game My Fan is powered by Reactional Music\u2019s music personalization technology.) While playing the resulting games, fans can unlock songs, join \u201cartist Hall of Fame communities\u201d and access exclusive merch, tickets and content to deepen their connection to the artists and their music.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe post states that customizing a game can be \u201ccompleted with weeks of agreement, with revenue shared equally with artists,\u201d adding that artists and other rights holders will keep \u201cfull control of release dates, timing, marketing and price points.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe first game to be released under the deal is one created from Can\u2019t Get Enough: A Tribute to Bad Company<\/em>, a tribute album commemorating the band\u2019s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction featuring covers of Bad Company classics including \u201cRun With the Pack\u201d (Blackberry Smoke featuring Paul Rodgers and Brann Dailor), \u201cRock \u2018n\u2019 Roll Fantasy\u201d (The Struts), \u201cRock Steady\u201d (Dirty Honey), \u201cBurnin\u2019 Sky\u201d (Black Stone Cherry) and \u201cSeagull\u201d (Joe Elliott and Phil Collen of Def Leppard featuring Paul Rodgers and Simon Kirke).<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cOur partnership with Game My Fan allows artists to work their catalogues in new ways, using new technology and existing distribution infrastructure to create a new music category direct to fans\u2019 devices,\u201d said Natalia Nastaskin, chief content officer at Primary Wave, in a statement, adding that the deal \u201cmeans a new revenue stream, higher margins, more control, and a unique direct-to-fan sales channel for all artists.\u201d<\/p>\n
