I\u2019ve been wanting to make an album like this forever.<\/p>\n<p><strong>My current music collection has a lot of<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0Late \u201870s rock and punk. The Clash, David Bowie, Cheap Trick, Boston, and also some newer bands like Home Front.<\/p>\n<p><strong>And a little bit of<\/strong>\u00a0(Genre): Lord Huron, The Handsome Family, and even a Juice WRLD track.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Preferred format<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0I mostly just stream music nowadays\u2014it\u2019s convenient. I\u2019m not into music that\u2019s difficult to access. It\u2019s got power and energy from every instrument, great choruses and vocals. Captain Sensible plays the best guitar solos all over the album. It\u2019s the whole experience.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-2\">2<\/h2>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-black-album-the-damned\"><strong><em>The Black Album<\/em>, The Damned<\/strong><\/h2>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1280\" height=\"1220\" src=\"https:\/\/static.spin.com\/files\/2025\/12\/The-Black-Album-The-Damned.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-649648\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.spin.com\/files\/2025\/12\/The-Black-Album-The-Damned.png 1280w, https:\/\/static.spin.com\/files\/2025\/12\/The-Black-Album-The-Damned-340x324.png 340w, https:\/\/static.spin.com\/files\/2025\/12\/The-Black-Album-The-Damned-768x732.png 768w, https:\/\/static.spin.com\/files\/2025\/12\/The-Black-Album-The-Damned-498x475.png 498w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1280px) 100vw, 1280px\"><\/figure>\n<p>Another well-rounded album by The Damned. They could play fast, slow, melodic, raunchy\u2026they could do it all. On this album they added Paul Gray on bass who is a major influence on my playing and one of my favorite bass players ever.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-3\">3<\/h2>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-suffer-bad-religion\"><strong><em>Suffer<\/em>, Bad Religion<\/strong><\/h2>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1256\" height=\"1218\" src=\"https:\/\/static.spin.com\/files\/2025\/12\/Suffer-Bad-Religion.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-649649\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.spin.com\/files\/2025\/12\/Suffer-Bad-Religion.png 1256w, https:\/\/static.spin.com\/files\/2025\/12\/Suffer-Bad-Religion-340x330.png 340w, https:\/\/static.spin.com\/files\/2025\/12\/Suffer-Bad-Religion-768x745.png 768w, https:\/\/static.spin.com\/files\/2025\/12\/Suffer-Bad-Religion-498x483.png 498w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1256px) 100vw, 1256px\"><\/figure>\n<p>This album sounds so powerful and cohesive. It\u2019s so melodic. It\u2019s full of harmonies and so much power. This album changed the whole sound of punk rock from the day it came out even till now.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-4\">4<\/h2>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-no-control-bad-religion\"><strong><em>No Control<\/em>, Bad Religion<\/strong><\/h2>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1290\" height=\"1290\" src=\"https:\/\/static.spin.com\/files\/2025\/12\/No-Control-Bad-Religion-1290x1290.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-649650\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.spin.com\/files\/2025\/12\/No-Control-Bad-Religion-1290x1290.png 1290w, https:\/\/static.spin.com\/files\/2025\/12\/No-Control-Bad-Religion-340x340.png 340w, https:\/\/static.spin.com\/files\/2025\/12\/No-Control-Bad-Religion-768x768.png 768w, https:\/\/static.spin.com\/files\/2025\/12\/No-Control-Bad-Religion-498x498.png 498w, https:\/\/static.spin.com\/files\/2025\/12\/No-Control-Bad-Religion.png 1362w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1290px) 100vw, 1290px\"><\/figure>\n<p>This is like\u00a0<em>Suffer<\/em>\u00a02.0. Somehow, they made this one sound even more cohesive, melodic, and powerful than\u00a0<em>Suffer<\/em>. The two are neck and neck as two of the still current best punk albums ever. The Clash\u2019s first album comes to mind as one of the best also, but they aren\u2019t on this list.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-5\">5<\/h2>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-heaven-and-hell-black-sabbath\"><strong><em>Heaven and Hell<\/em>, Black Sabbath<\/strong><\/h2>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1248\" height=\"1216\" src=\"https:\/\/static.spin.com\/files\/2025\/12\/Heaven-and-Hell-Black-Sabbath.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-649651\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.spin.com\/files\/2025\/12\/Heaven-and-Hell-Black-Sabbath.png 1248w, https:\/\/static.spin.com\/files\/2025\/12\/Heaven-and-Hell-Black-Sabbath-340x331.png 340w, https:\/\/static.spin.com\/files\/2025\/12\/Heaven-and-Hell-Black-Sabbath-768x748.png 768w, https:\/\/static.spin.com\/files\/2025\/12\/Heaven-and-Hell-Black-Sabbath-498x485.png 498w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1248px) 100vw, 1248px\"><\/figure>\n<p>Sabbath are just one of the best rock bands ever. Even when I got into punk, I still kept blasting Sabbath. Iommi is the absolute riff master, nobody can touch him. Geezer is so amazing, every best bass lick I\u2019ve ever done is some version of what I thought Geezer was doing. Bill Ward was doing his version of Bonham, so good. Ozzy isn\u2019t on this record. Even factoring everything Ozzy meant to the world of Rock, nobody can touch Dio vocally.
