\n\tRussell Wilson<\/a> and Ciara<\/a> are definitely in the giving spirit this holiday season, with the couple donating millions of dollars to the Mount Sinai Karvis Children\u2019s Hospital to close out a year of charitable efforts through the football player\u2019s Why Not You Foundation.<\/p>\n

\n\tAs announced Friday (Dec. 26) through a Good Morning America <\/em>segment, Wilson and the singer have contributed $3 million to the medical center\u2019s pediatric programs. The money will go toward improving the hospital\u2019s common area \u2014 where patients are free to engage in therapeutic and creative activities as a respite from doctors and treatments \u2014 as well as the children\u2019s holiday shop.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe donation comes as Wilson has been visiting the children\u2019s hospital every Tuesday on his days off from practice and games with the New York Giants. \u201cI started going to children\u2019s hospitals, because my dad was unfortunately always in the hospital \u2014 he had diabetes \u2014 and my mom was an ER nurse,\u201d he said in an interview with GMA<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cFor me, I thought, like, \u2018How can I make a difference somewhere?’\u201d the athlete continued. \u201cEvery time I walk in a room, I\u2019m praying for a miracle, something great to happen. And I\u2019ve seen those miracles happen time and time again.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe $3 million comes by way of Wilson\u2019s Why Not You Foundation, which he founded in 2014. \u201cMy dad used to always say, \u2018Son, why not you?\u2019 It kind of became the mantra of my life,\u201d he recalled, adding that he and Ciara decided to name the organization in honor of the phrase as \u201cour parents both instilled that \u2018Why not you?\u2019 attitude in us.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tSix weeks prior to the Mount Sinai news, Wilson wrote on Instagram<\/a> that the Why Not You Foundation had raised more than $21 million to go toward its programs championing education, children\u2019s health and the fight against poverty. Some of the money also went to The V Foundation for Cancer Research.<\/p>\n

\n\tCiara, who works closely with her husband\u2019s Why Not You Foundation, also recently attended<\/a> an event at St. Peter\u2019s Church in Atlanta to pledge $2 million to programs combating food insecurity. <\/p>\n

\n\tAs for what he hopes to see his donation accomplish, Wilson told GMA<\/em>, \u201cI want [the kids] to be inspired, and I want them to take their mind a little bit off of the pain they\u2019re going through.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s probably been the greatest thing I\u2019ve been able to do in my career so far,\u201d he added of helping young hospital patients. \u201cIt\u2019s better than any touchdown or any trophy.\u201d<\/p>\n
