The Cure have paid tribute to multi-instrumentalist Perry Bamonte, who has died aged 65.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The Cure have paid tribute to multi-instrumentalist Perry Bamonte, who has died aged 65.<\/p>\n

Writing on the band\u2019s website<\/a> on December 26, the band said Bamonte died \u201cafter a short illness at home over Christmas\u201d and praised him as a \u201cwarm hearted and vital part of The Cure story.\u201d<\/p>\n

Originally a member of The Cure\u2019s road crew from 1984, Bamonte was joined the band after the departure of keyboardist Roger O\u2019Donnell in 1990.<\/p>\n

He also played guitar on some of the band\u2019s most successful albums, including Wish and Bloodflowers, and tours.<\/p>\n

Bamonte also played bass in Love Amongst Ruin from 2012.<\/p>\n

He re-joined The Cure in 2022. His final appearance with the band was The Show Of A Lost World concert at The Troxy in London on November 1, 2024.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the band\u2019s statement in full.<\/p>\n

IT IS WITH ENORMOUS SADNESS\u00a0THAT WE CONFIRM THE DEATH OF OUR GREAT FRIEND AND BANDMATE\u00a0PERRY BAMONTE\u00a0WHO PASSED AWAY AFTER A SHORT ILLNESS AT HOME OVER CHRISTMAS.\u00a0<\/p>\n

QUIET, INTENSE, INTUITIVE, CONSTANT AND HUGELY CREATIVE,\u00a0\u2018TEDDY\u2019 WAS A WARM HEARTED AND VITAL PART OF\u00a0THE CURE<\/em>\u00a0STORY.<\/p>\n

\u2018LOOKING AFTER THE BAND\u2019 FROM 1984 THROUGH 1989,\u00a0HE BECAME A FULL TIME MEMBER OF THE CURE IN 1990, PLAYING GUITAR, SIX STRING BASS AND KEYBOARD\u00a0ON THE\u00a0WISH<\/em>,\u00a0WILD MOOD SWINGS<\/em>,\u00a0BLOODFLOWERS<\/em>, ACOUSTIC HITS<\/em>\u00a0AND\u00a0THE CURE<\/em>\u00a0ALBUMS,\u00a0AS WELL AS PERFORMING MORE THAN 400 SHOWS OVER 14 YEARS.\u00a0<\/p>\n

HE REJOINED\u00a0THE CURE<\/em>\u00a0IN 2022, PLAYING ANOTHER 90 SHOWS,\u00a0SOME OF THE BEST IN THE BAND\u2019S HISTORY,\u00a0CULMINATING WITH\u00a0THE SHOW OF A LOST WORLD<\/em>\u00a0CONCERT\u00a0IN LONDON 1ST NOVEMBER 2024.\u00a0<\/p>\n

OUR THOUGHTS AND CONDOLENCES ARE WITH ALL HIS FAMILY.\u00a0HE WILL BE VERY GREATLY MISSED.<\/p>\n
