{"id":7812,"date":"2026-01-05T02:36:38","date_gmt":"2026-01-05T02:36:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/musictechohio.online\/site\/2026-critics-choice-awards-winners-list\/"},"modified":"2026-01-05T02:36:38","modified_gmt":"2026-01-05T02:36:38","slug":"2026-critics-choice-awards-winners-list","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/musictechohio.online\/site\/2026-critics-choice-awards-winners-list\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Golden\u2019 and \u2018Sinners\u2019 Score Win in Music Categories at 2026 Critics Choice\u00a0Awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><!-- do not apply CSS styles to this element! --><\/p>\n<div class=\"pmc-not-a-paywall\">\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cGolden,\u201d the fizzy global smash from <em>KPop Demon Hunters<\/em>, won best song at the 31st\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/t\/critics-choice-awards\/\">Critics Choice Awards<\/a>, which were held at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif., on Sunday (Jan. 4). <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/ludwig-goransson\/\">Ludwig G\u00f6ransson<\/a>\u2019s music for <em>Sinners<\/em> won best score. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tBoth \u201cGolden\u201d and the <em>Sinners <\/em>score are nominated in those same categories at the Golden Globe Awards, which will be presented on Jan. 11. Both are also shortlisted for Oscars in those categories. Oscar nominations will be announced on Jan. 22.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cGolden\u201d topped the Billboard Hot 100 for eight weeks. It\u2019s the first former No. 1 hit to win at the Critics Choice Awards since \u201cSee You Again\u201d from <em>Furious 7<\/em>  a decade ago. That hip-hop smash topped the Hot 100 for 12 weeks. (\u201cShallow\u201d from <em>A Star Is Born<\/em> also hit No. 1, but not prior to awards season. It hit No. 1 after it won the Oscar.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cGolden\u201d was cowritten by <a data-id=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/ejae\/\" data-type=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/ejae\/\">EJAE<\/a>, Mark Sonnenblick, Ido, 24 and Teddy. If it also wins at the Oscars, it would mark the first time the winning song has had as many as five credited writers. The Academy has a rule that no more than four statuettes will be presented in this category, so these five writers have agreed that, should they win, they will share one statuette for their song.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThis is G\u00f6ransson\u2019s second Critics Choice Award for best score. He won two years ago for <em>Oppenheimer.<\/em> He\u2019s the first composer to win twice in the space of three years since Justin Hurwitz, who won for <em>La La Land<\/em>  (2016) and <em>First Man<\/em> (2018).<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tFour of the six winners for best original score since 2020 went on to win in that category at the Oscars. Likewise, four of the seven winners for best original song since 2020 (there was a tie in 2020) went on to win at the Oscars.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t<em>KPop Demon Hunters<\/em> won a second award, best animated feature. In TV categories, <em>Jimmy Kimmel Live! <\/em>won best talk show. <em>Last Week Tonight with John Oliver<\/em> won best variety series, beating <em>Saturday Night Live<\/em>, but <em>SNL50: The Anniversary Special<\/em> won best comedy special.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tRyan Coogler\u2019s horror film<em>\u00a0Sinners\u00a0<\/em>led the 2026 Critics Choice\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/t\/awards\/\">Awards<\/a>\u00a0nominations with a whopping 17 bids. Paul Thomas Anderson\u2019s<em>\u00a0One Battle After Another<\/em>\u00a0was runner-up, with 14 nods. Those two films were followed on the leaderboard by\u00a0<em>Frankenstein<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Hamnet\u00a0<\/em>(11 nods each);\u00a0<em>Marty Supreme<\/em>\u00a0(eight);\u00a0<em>F1<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Sentimental Value<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Wicked: For Good<\/em>\u00a0(seven nods each),\u00a0<em>Train Dreams<\/em>\u00a0(five), and\u00a0<em>Jay Kelly<\/em> and\u00a0<em>Weapons\u00a0<\/em>(four nods each).<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tOn the television side, Netflix\u2019s\u00a0<em>Adolesence<\/em>\u00a0led the way with six nominations, followed by\u00a0<em>Nobody Wants This<\/em>\u00a0with five; and\u00a0<em>All Her Fault<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Death by Lightning<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Ghosts<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Hacks<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Severance<\/em> and\u00a0<em>The Pitt<\/em>, with four nods each.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tChelsea Handler hosted the Critics Choice Awards for the fourth consecutive year. It was broadcast live on Jan. 4 on E! and USA Network.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tHere\u2019s a complete list of nominations in both film and TV categories, with the winners that have been identified marked.
