He was 34.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tColombia\u2019s Office of Air Traffic Accidents confirmed that an aircraft with registration N325FA crashed. In 2024, he reached a major milestone in his career by selling out Bogot\u00e1\u2019s Movistar Arena not once, but three times, drawing more than 40,000 fans in total.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThis was a historic achievement for both Jim\u00e9nez and the genre, as no other Colombian popular music artist had ever reached that milestone. Popular music in Colombia has its roots in the country\u2019s coffee-growing region, which includes Caldas (where Jim\u00e9nez was born), Quind\u00edo, Risaralda and Tolima.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe genre, which dates back to more than 50 years ago, was originally known as \u201cm\u00fasica de carrilera\u201d or \u201ccantina music.\u201d It was heavily influenced by Mexican regional music and gained traction in small towns and local bars, thanks to pioneers like Dar\u00edo G\u00f3mez, Luis Alberto Posada and El Charrito Negro.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAccording to Jim\u00e9nez, Dar\u00edo G\u00f3mez was especially instrumental in shaping the genre, even though many doubted his vision when he first introduced the fusion in the \u201970s. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tJim\u00e9nez had lofty ambitions for his brand of music, and in 2024, he was part of a panel of m\u00fasica popular artists at Billboard Latin Music Week. Last year he fulfilled another dream: selling out Bogot\u00e1\u2019s El Camp\u00edn Stadium, becoming the first Colombian regional artist to do so.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tHe had been gearing up for a second show at El Camp\u00edn, scheduled for March 28.
