But <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/teyana-taylor\/\">Teyana Taylor<\/a>\u2019s win was far from a foregone conclusion. When it was revealed that the actor-musical artist had won her first Golden Globe \u2014 best performance by a female actor in a supporting role in any motion picture \u2014 on Sunday (Jan. 11) night, she was beside herself. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cI almost didn\u2019t write a speech because I didn\u2019t think I\u2019d win,\u201d Taylor said, crying and even shaking a bit as she began her acceptance remarks. \u201cMy babies are upstairs watching \u2013 y\u2019all better be off those damn phones and watching right now,\u201d she joked.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAs her co-stars (and many others) gave her a standing ovation, Taylor thanked her director, calling him \u201cPaul \u2018Let Him Cook\u2019 Anderson\u201d and thanking him for his \u201cvision\u201d of <em>One Battle After Another,<\/em> which he also co-wrote.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAfter thanking her family, co-stars and team, she added an impactful message. \u201cLast, but most importantly, to my Brown sisters and little Brown girls watching tonight. Our softness is not a liability. Our depth is not too much. Our light does not need permission to shine. We belong in every room we walk into. Our voices matter and our dreams deserve space.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tTaylor released her latest solo album, <em>Escape Room<\/em>, last fall.
