\n\tNicki Minaj<\/a> sharply criticized independent journalist Don Lemon after he reported on a protest that disrupted a church service in Minnesota.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe 43-year-old rapper took to X on Sunday (Jan. 18) to attack the former CNN anchor, 59, following his livestream from Cities Church<\/a> in St. Paul. Demonstrators interrupted the service to protest the presence of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, according to TMZ<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cDON \u2018C\u2014K SUCKIN\u2019 LEMON IS DISGUSTING,\u201d Minaj wrote in an all-caps post<\/a> alongside an image of Chucky from Child\u2019s Play<\/em>. \u201cHOW DARE YOU? I WANT THAT THUG IN JAIL!!!!! HE WOULD NEVER DO THAT TO ANY OTHER RELIGION. LOCK HIM UP!!!!!\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tDavid Easterwood, listed as a pastor on the Cities Church website, is also identified as acting director of ICE\u2019s Saint Paul Field Office, according to a Dec. 19 cease-and-desist notice obtained by People<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n

\n\tLemon, who is openly gay and married to real estate agent Tim Malone, clapped back at Minaj\u2019s remarks in a statement to TMZ.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019m not surprised Nicki Minaj does not understand journalism and is weighing in on matters that are above her capacity,\u201d he told the outlet. \u201cHowever, the more appropriate image for her post is a \u2018Pick Me\u2019 Doll.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn another interview with TMZ Live<\/a><\/em>, Lemon added that the rapper needs to \u201csit the f\u2014k down\u201d and \u201cgrow some brains,\u201d while calling her a \u201chomophobic, bigoted ignorant woman.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tOn Monday (Jan. 20), Minaj followed up with another post on X<\/a>, again including an image of Chucky giving the middle finger.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cLOL!!! And I purposely wrote it that way b\/c I knew that would be the only way to get the c\u2014k suckas to post about it. They would\u2019ve all collectively ignored the despicable behavior displayed by Lemon head,\u201d she wrote. \u201cI\u2019m glad they\u2019re angry. They\u2019re about to get angrier.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe controversy comes after Minaj faced backlash for appearing on stage<\/a> at Turning Point USA\u2019s AmericaFest last December in Phoenix with Erika Kirk, the wife of right-wing commentator Charlie Kirk. During the interview, the hip-hop star praised President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance as \u201crole models\u201d for young men.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn early January, thousands of people signed an online petition<\/a> on Change.org<\/a> calling for Minaj\u2019s deportation to her native Trinidad. Minaj moved to the United States when she was 5 years old and said in a 2024 livestream that she still was not a U.S. citizen.<\/p>\n
