My Morning Jacket has unveiled an album of 14 acoustic recordings on Bandcamp dubbed Peacelands<\/a><\/em>, proceeds from which will benefit the American Civil Liberties Union, Doctors Without Borders and the International Rescue Committee. The project was recorded in Los Angeles with producer Shawn Everett and includes a blend of originals (\u201cI\u2019m Amazed,\u201d \u201cState of the Art\u201d) and covers (Brian Wilson\u2019s \u201cLove and Mercy,\u201d Bob Dylan\u2019s \u201cBlowin\u2019 in the Wind\u201d).<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2018Peacelands\u2019 is a word and concept created by visionary Louisville artist Mark Anthony Mulligan \u2014 an imaginary land of peace, friendship and equality he created in his artwork,\u201d says frontman Jim Jimes. \u201c[It\u2019s] a place where folks listen to each other and find a way to get along in peace, friendship and togetherness \u2014 despite their differences. I think about this word \u201dpeacelands\u2019 in our world all of the time, especially in troubled times, and we believe that it\u2019s still possible for us to achieve Mark\u2019s vision of Peacelands \u2014 a world of love and friendship \u2014 if only we can learn to listen, love and forgive in paths of peace, acceptance and tolerance.\u201d<\/p>\n
