It would be the follow-up to 2019\u2019s <em>Fear Innculum<\/em>, which was the band\u2019s third consecutive No. 1 on the <em>Billboard<\/em> 200.<\/p>\n<p>Responding to the interview\u2019s comment that Tool makes \u201ccinematic\u201d music, Carey replied, \u201cWe\u2019re very much into that. We\u2019re hoping when we release a new record [to] maybe do a stint at Sphere, because I think we\u2019d be a perfect band for that. I think it\u2019s quite a few shows before you make any money, but it would be worth it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Carey has not seen a show at the 17,600-capacity Sphere himself but admitted he \u201calmost got vertigo\u201d when he recently took a tour of the venue. All he revealed about the next Tool album was that he and his bandmates were \u201cworking on a lot of new Tool songs right now\u201d and that the \u201cgoal\u201d was for them to come out next year.<\/p>\n<p>Sphere opened in September 2023 with an inaugural run by U2 and has since hosted Phish, Dead &amp; Company, Eagles, Kenny Chesney, Backstreet Boys and Zac Brown Band, with No Doubt and Carin Leon scheduled for later this year.
