Because for all the awfulness we see normalized daily on our small screens, there\u2019s nothing normal about these mad and maddening times and we need to stand up to them before we can go back to having faith in the future. And each other.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAmerican Obituary\u201d is about the recent shooting death of Renee Good in Minneapolis by ICE agents, while \u201cThe Tears of Things\u201d is said to examine \u201chow one can live compassionately in a time of violence and despair.\u201d \u201cSong of the Future\u201d concerns freedom for women in Iran, \u201cOne Life at a Time\u201d was penned by Palestinian war casualty Awdah Hathaleen and \u201cWildpeace\u201d is a reading of a poem by Israeli author\/poet Yehuda Amichai from Nigerian artist\u00a0Adeola<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>of Les Amazones d\u2019Afrique, set to music by U2 and producer Jacknife Lee.<\/p>\n<p>On Feb. 24, the band will release a short documentary about \u201cYours Eternally\u201d from Ukrainian cinematographer and filmmaker Ilya Mikhaylus to commemorate the fourth anniversary of Russia\u2019s invasion of Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWho needs to hear a new record from us? It just depends on whether we\u2019re making music we feel deserves to be heard,\u201d says drummer Larry Mullen Jr. \u201cI believe these new songs stand up to our best work. We talk a lot about when to release new tracks. You don\u2019t always know. The way the world is now feels like the right moment.\u00a0Going way back to our earliest days, working with Amnesty or Greenpeace, we\u2019ve never shied away from taking a position and sometimes that can get a bit messy. There\u2019s always some sort of blowback, but it\u2019s a big side of who we are and why we still exist.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Offers the Edge, \u201cWe believe in a world where borders are not erased by force.
