The last release Stockholm Syndrome was out first full length in 20 years and are so humbled with the reception it got from fans and press. \u00a0The comparisons to the classic work we put out decades ago was reassuring we still got it and got something to say to the people.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>My current music collection has a lot of<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0Reggae, jazz, and soul.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>And a little bit of<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0Bad Bunny.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Preferred format<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0I actually still have a boombox and I connect my phone with CDs and thumb drives. You know I love wax. Streaming is unavoidable in 2026. I personally hate the business behind it, but I love the technology. Since we own our masters in new material, it\u2019s better and we renegotiated with Sony to get a better deal on our catalog. It\u2019s still not huge, but better than nothing. You can\u2019t be in this without it, but it would be better if it was made to be fairer to artists and writers. I recommend buying wax and CDs direct from the artists and going to Bandcamp and buying quality downloads. Not only in the recorded performances, but in being one of the first Black artists to bring a theatrical approach to his live shows with props, which lead to performance art and influenced punk theatrics and [giving it] all on the stage. Give it your all and never phoning it in.<\/p>\n<p>I take this approach as a performer\u2026 if it\u2019s in front of 20,000 people or two people, you will get my all.<\/p>\n<p>Did I mention the songs? That was Spike Jones. Spike took music and threw it in the kitchen sink. \u00a0 Nothing was left behind. \u00a0Taking music and not having any rules. If you listen to songs I write, I embrace this method of chaos to sections of my work. On our last album Stockholm Syndrome, there is a song called \u201cAdolescent Regressive Behavior\u201d that takes you on a journey of chaos to a breather to chaos. That\u2019s the world. This is important because you can\u2019t define James Brown on one CD. James\u2019 life was a series of movements. He\u2019s the Godfather because he saw no limits, moved the goalposts to challenge not only himself, but his band and the audience. \u00a0James never let you settle in. Starting takes you from the beginning with \u201cPlease, Please, Please\u201d to the hits \u201cPapa\u2019s Got a Brand New Bag\u201d to social awareness of Black pride and revolution with \u201cSay It Loud \u2014 I\u2019m Black And I\u2019m Proud\u201d when it needed it most. Shit\u2026James Brown was the only person that could calm Boston after Dr. Martin Luther King was assassinated when all could have gone bad. A man, his music, and his message showed how strong music can be. Fishbone carry\u2019s that mission. We say it loud. We are Black and we are proud. Always have.\u00a0<em>The Jungle Book<\/em>\u00a0connected with me as a kid. The story and the songs. The music itself was a combination of jazz, swing, and vaudeville. This music (well before Prince) became my DNA. You watch me sing and perform, you could animate me and I\u2019d be in\u00a0<em>The Jungle Book<\/em>\u00a0dancing and singing with Baloo and King Louie. Both in performance, recording, and like nothing else. They played to their own best. Tribal at times and sloppy at times. The music was pure vibe and made your body and mind just react. No thinking, just feeling\u2026 they influenced a whole generation and scene. One album and a bunch of 7\u201d.
